Anyone seafoam there car? I am getting ready to do it for the first time. I have heard no bad results from anyone who actually did it.

I've heard it works awesome but don't do it anywhere people are trying to breathe oxygen or with the back of your car pointing at your neighbor's front door because there's a nasty cloud over the place when you get it fired back up!

I haven't used SeaFoam, but I have used GM Top Engine Cleaner-- similar product.

I have had very good luck with it especially in higher mileage engines.

It's a good idea although not necessary to use a "junk" set of spark plugs-- and I always change the oil and filter afterwards.

And yes, the smoke screen is impressive.

I used it on my last car and it works awesome. The smoke cloud as others have said is huge. I however aimed my car at my neighbors house... Not too much a fan of him. He got rather mad and i played dumb.

Works good. My friend recommends changing plugs after, but not really necessary. Just suck it up through the brake vacuum line a little at a time and try to keep the engine from stalling until most of the bottle is through. Then give it one big suck and it will completely stall. Let it sit for 10-15min then start it back up and watch the cloud. Starting it again can take a little time.

Ditto, but I'll add drive it around to fog the whole neighborhood. After all every neighbor should share in the fun. Seriously, it helps to put a load on the engine, which aids in cleaning the plugs.

I usually do it at night. Kind of embarrassing driving around with all that smoke.

My engine ran much smoother after pouring it down the carb.

Their trans tune is a great product as well, have used it on all my vehicles and have never had any adverse affects.

I love fogging the neighbors house when I run it through the intake. He likes to burn wet grass when the wind is blowing towards our house, so I return the favor in short bursts.

As mentioned above, once you fire the vehicle back up, driving it like you stole it! I run it in the gas tank too after every oil change, following the directions to get the right concentration.

IMHO, the smoke is burning off the seafoam... any petro-based chemical you dump in is going to make lots of smoke. Like the old Rislone down the carb trick.

mine made more smoke when I let it sit for 30 minutes before starting...... good stuff though!!

I use it in my oil and in my gas tank once a year. I buy two bottles, one goes in a full tank of gas and half a bottle in the oil. The other half I just throw into the gas tank too. Run it for 300 miles and then change the oil. I haven't done the crankcase thing because I really think the jury is out if it actually does anything. Kevin is right, the smoke is just the seafoam burning. There really is no proof that it's actually removing any carbon or grime.

Seafoam unstuck my stuck valve on the Silverado I had, so I'd say it works great. Sure beats having to get the heads redone.

The problem in doing any research is everybody just comments on how cool their car looked with all the smoke. I can think of a lot of things I can pour down my carb and create smoke. Heck, after a couple beers I can piss on the exhaust and make James Bond envious but not sure what good it would do???

If it is that effective anybody do an oil change right after to verify the removal or deposits?? If not aren't you doing more harm then good recirculating all that loose contaminated oil?? The old ATF before an oil change worked somewhat but again it was followed with an oil change.

I only use cleaners such as Techron before an oil change.

Id be interested in a before and after, this is for the manufacturer, I dont think any of us are going to go to the trouble of pulling a head and taking before and afters.
I had an Pontiac 400 that looked like the oil had been baked on after pulling the valve covers, drained the oil put in 2 quarts straight 50 wt and filled the rest with prepsol and ran it until it got up to temp, drained the oil and all kinds of clumps came out. I was considering rebuilding the engine and tried this, the oil pressure jumped back up to normal range and I drove it for a few years, so these things can work.
