      Cell Phones?

Ok, I am looking at getting a fancy phone, well fancy for me....LOL! The I Phone is $300 and requires $30/month additional program. The LG Vu is $179 and requires $15/month additional. The Blackjack II is $199 and requires $30/month additional.
      Any others suggested?
I also want one that is dependable and all, my Razr is about 3 or so years old now.
I am not a tech/computer guy so it needs to be fairly simple and most of the features will be unused on my phone. But I am wanting something that has a decent size screen and good browsing capablitiy so I can look at the weather radar and such on the go. I am a roofer and needless to say, we live and die by the rain!

      Ideas?

      Thanks guys!

I have an iPhone. It is a trully marvelous device. I'm actually using it right now to respond to your post. Out of all the phones that you listed the iPhone has the best screen, by far. Go check out all the phones. You will see just how beautifully the iPhone integrates all of it's functions.

I think you can also run G-Tech software on the iPhone!

I heard about the G Tech stuff, but I already got one of them, not that I have ever used, but got one! LOL!
I'm just unsure if I will actually use the $30/month fee on top of the normal charge enough to justify the cost. Since I am not a "techno" guy and don't use a schedule too much. Program adaptablity is pretty cool for work, but not without a printer to hand the stuff to the customer.
      Any other input?

FWIW - the newer RAZR2 screens are pretty darned nice. (and the phone is less problematic than regular RAZR).

Jimmy, Verizon is offering a new phone that is basically an Iphone with a slightly smaller screen. It's called the LG Dare. It basically does everything the Iphone does and got an 8.3 out of 10 on CNET. Go to the link below and watch the video. This would probably be my phone if GM allowed me to have a phone with a camara. You can't beat the price either. LG makes a great product.

I just bought a Samsung Instinct (Sprint). So far pretty darn cool, very cool applications, setting up email was a snap. I love it!

One of my coworkers has one of these. He recently lost his phone and using the GPS tracking was able to locate it to within 40 feet of its location. It's making me think of swtiching services just to get it, but all I really need is a phone...

I switch phones every 12-18 months. I always look at the reviews and comparisons on phonescoop.com before buying. They also give you a heads up with what's coming out, but not yet available to the public.

My last 3 phones have been Smartphones (Windows Mobile OS). I like being able to sync my phone with my computer and keep all my contacts up to date.

My girlfriend has an iPhone and it is pretty slick! The screen is vivid and the touch screen is very intuitive.

That's what I thought until I got my instinct. Now, I cannot see how I lived without it. Especially it's live search feature. That, all by itself is reason enough to get one. throw in the live and on demand tv, movies, a 2 megapixle camera, a video camera, stereo bluetooth, gps, nav, weather, news, up to the second email updates, (my gmail notifier is slow compared to my phone!) visual voicemail, sports updates and other junk, (it's got some affiliation with myspace, and youtube, and photobucket so there's apps that lead you right to them.)

It's VERY simple to get the email up and running, and it moniters several accounts at once. It doesn't slow down any connections with anything else either, unlike other phones.

I had switched over to a basic phone not to long ago, but after using my Blackberry for work, I wanted something nice again. I have no regrets at this time, very cool. I hope I never lose it, but this is very helpful info if I do!

I'm trying to decide myself what to get. I need something I can use to stay in touch with the site when I'm out of town and yesterday decided to get the Iphone 3G. I called and was told they are taking over 3 weeks to get one. So much for learning how to use it before Run Thru The Hills.

I have the IPhone 3G $199 8MB works great... You have to have ATT to use it. It depends on what you want, if you dont use the web, email, calander then there is no reason to get a "smart" phone.

Make sure you get an unlimited plan, or you'll take it in the a-hole with overage charges. I have a Cing 8525 that rocks for business and personal, just replaced the screen as I cracked it by accident. I've had times where I've browsed or used gps etc and forget it was connected, if I didn't have the unlimited plan I'd have ended up with a nice bill.

All of the ATT iPhone data plans have unlimited data. The only difference is text messaging. $20/500 $30/1500 $40/unlimited.

Well, I do have the unlimited plan thru AT&T now and I am just wanting to upgrade. The additional plan is $30 (minimum) for it and like James said, it is $199 or $299 for the 16G one (whatever the heck that means!). The browsing would be cool I guess, and prolly addicting once you start! LOL. Does the LG stuff last? I am just trying to spend my money wisely so I can spend more on the car.........or actually gas! LOL!
      All input is still welcome!
      Thanks!

Well, I went to the AT&T store to get a Iphone and changed my mind. The $199 and $299 is $399 and $499 if your current contract is not eligible for an upgrade. Between the $399 phone, the tax and setup fee I figured I would rather have the 6 v-band clamps I need instead. LOL! I will go get one once my contract is eligible for the discount.

i have an instinct, I love it. I have the 99 dollar-everything plan. The only thing i'd change is the browser, but in two weeks, the update will fix it. It has live weather updates built in, WITH LIVE RADAR you can use. It has up to the minute weather bullitens, as well as GPS audible turn by turn navigation that looks ahead in real time and checks traffic, (and will plan you a new route around it if you want) It has live TV, a music store that lets you actually download songs and movies right from your phone on (unlike the iphone) It has it's own news channels, cool apps, and an appstore (just like iphone has) will be out by the end of the month. The qwerty keyboard is nice. as is the ablity to voice command searches, like saying to your phone "go to search: Taco bell" and it finds you every taco bell, gives you the phone number, directions, and a link to the site.

and the voice command takes no training like on other phones. It just knows what you said.
