Need help with compressors
So I need a compressor, and after reading the previous thread below I guess I need a two stage one to run a DA. I'm also going to use it for a media blaster that needs 15cfm at 90psi and now I need help finding the better compressor for me.
I think I'm between this IR
http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...8461_200318461
puts out 14.7 cfm at 175psi
and this Quincy
http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...0475_200350475
that puts out 15.9 cfm at 90psi
anyone have any other incite to add? Personal experiences?
Theres a single stage IR that puts out 18.1cfm 90psi

So do you really need a two stage compressor to run DAs efficiently?Kenneth N.

Re: shopping for new air compressor - help!
This is around a $750 to $800 two stage compressor, they will give you all the air you need, even keep up with a 100lb pressurized sandblaster pot.
But, this is my third one in 10 years, I put up several pictures so you can see the pump.
You will see this type of pump on a lot of them in this price range. I should have known better then to buy the third one, its running good, but that could change pretty fast.
If you can come up with the cash for a compressor in the $1200 or better yet $1400 range, you should get a lower rpm on the motor, probably quieter, and an all cast iron pump. I'm not going to say for sure, but an Eaton or Quincy is a pretty good bet.
This compressor is kind of like me, I'm 66 and running decent, but.
A $1400 dollar compressor will hang in there, spend the money and don't even look back.

Thanks, I think I will end up with the Quincy. I can't go any bigger than a 60 gal vert. due to lack of space (my cougar barely fits thanks to a lathe, drill presses, band saw, and idustrial arc welder/generator, grinder, plus tools and benches) and about that level seems to be the top. I hope I never look back after I take the plunge. I want to do it right the first time.

Sounds like your good to go, but don't forget the air lines coming out of it are just as important as the compressor, just in case you haven't seen this. http://www.1969supersport.com/draw1.html
