      ok heres another...

      well finished the trans crossmember...

Drilled some holes to recess the nuts

Cut the crossmember and tac'd it in place

      All set

Then played with some ideas for the next crossmember, and since I wanted to have one at the sweep up, and one 6" back from the ujoints I needed to come up with a good looking way to do so, instead of three round bars in a row, so I added another X

Cut some tubing, and notched the small pieces

me too, that's why I'm working my ass off on it, I want the body on, however the wheels and brakes will be a little while till I can fork the cash for them. Thanks for the kind words though.

Awesome fab work. Just read the whole thread for the first time.

I'm curious. What is the main purpose behind the custom frame? Sounds like front suspension will be pretty much stock geometry so is it to fit the 4 link in the rear with the fat tires? Do you think you will save weight versus factory frame?

nope, the whole front suspension was redesigned, moved everything upwards to accommodate the 5" lower ride height while keeping my RC at a better height to make it handle the power in the turns. Plus the rear half was yes, to fit the fat meats.

EDIT I'm not sure if I will save weight or not, I'm designing it on strength not weight, since this is only my first frame to build.

Rear suspension mock up, I HATE waiting for laser cut brackets to come in, so I took my sheet of 3/16"s and some cut off wheels and flap disks and made my own brackets... yet again

      Mounted the bars

Took my mandrels I ordered and got those ready to cut

      Cut and tac'd in place

Now I want everything adjustable, that way I can play with my settings, but again I didn't want to wait for my brackets
so I made these too, then ran out for the other side

Needed to space it out to match the axle side

The bolted extra bushing for spacer and ran out of material for the night

The plate is for JUST the top link, and allows 0*-10* change, 5 positions, all I need to do exactly what I need.

so what degree are you going to school for? Where did you get your frame building skills? This sure doesn't look like your first frame that's for sure

yea I'm in school for carpentry, and yes it's my first frame.... a lot of work and snags along the way and design efforts. I already know what I'd do different next time. Thanks though, it means a lot!
