Injector interchangeablitity
OK you EFI experts how interchangeable are the injectors out there? I know the TPI and Ford injectors are kind of the "standard" size and I assume use the same wiring plug. With all the LS1/2 motors out there will they plug into the wiring harnesses and are they the same height for fuel rails?
I know the PICOS Edelbrock uses some are shorter but similar dimensions otherwise.

Skip,
Almost all the injectors use the Bosch style plug and come with 1/2" nominal diameter o-rings. There are high and low impedance versions, but most newer ECMs handle both. After that, there are numerous variations in valve type and length. If you're looking for something short, I think Honda has some high flow, very short injectors that will work with most ecms.1967 Firebird Convert, Fuel Injected 462 ci, TKO 600

This will be the case for most aftermarket ECM's, but this is definitely not true for a lot of the OEM computers ... Installing low impendance injectors on a factory LSx ECM without also installing an impendance converter will fry it!!!!

See ALOY more LS injectors guys are upgrading around but wasn't sure if they would fit.
One day I'll have an EFI Pontiac too !

If you're worried about the cost of picos, I believe Accell has come out with a compatible product and I'm also pretty sure Honda or one of the other Japanese makers use a compatible injector. The same company that makes the picos for Edelbrock supplies injectors to the OEMs.

ls1s use a standard style bosch injector that is fairly universal among fords and german cars as well as most any other fuel injected car. Most injectors are a direct swap in. Gen 4 motors use an injector with a different connector. To upgrade the injectors you have to also change the connectors to the early style normally. This isnt hard and if you know what your doing should be done in less than a half hour for the connectors. Hell you probably can do the whole change over in a half hour if you have everything in front of you.

03-26-2008 #7My FAST harness is for "regular" plugs just see so many guys on my LS!/GTO board with used injectors didn't know how they fit. Will probably need something around 42-44.

03-29-2008 #9Thanks guys. Depending how you figure the HP. Dyno was only 525, but mph was 124 in a 3750 car so Moroso slide puts it around 550 with carb.

2nd vote for the lightning injectors. I've got a set here. They lightning owners like to go to 60# when they turn the boost up.
