Good point. I want to sign up and bid but have no clue FOR SURE what it fits. The discription sucks.

Young Gun, is it your understanding that the Hummer has a valid title that can be transered to the new owner?

The auction site says you will have to apply for a new VIN. Not sure if this is referring to the VIN or the title but if it is referring to the VIN these cars will not be worth as much with a reissued VIN. Here is what it says:

Title Information: The partially-completed vehicles will be sold “as is, where is, without warranties.” All sales shall be free and clear of all liens and claims against these assets. The Trustees have Original Title Certificates issued to Unique Motorcars, Inc. as to some of the vehicles; however they have been informed that the State of Texas has cancelled titles. Only a Bill of Sale will be provided upon sale. Buyers will have to apply for the reissuance of a VIN from the State of Texas. Buyer can obtain a certified copy of the Bankruptcy Court’s order at its own expense.

I also wonder about the condition of these shells. It looks like they might have been sitting uncovered in the rain for sometime, at least since they were hauled off by the Farmer's Branch police. I'm going to take a look tomorrow.

I am also considering going after a few shells, so anyone in the TX area that could store shell for a week, please drop me a PM.

Be aware that if you are bidding online:

"The Bankruptcy Court is requiring all participants in this auction to maintain a 25% deposit in certified funds at all times. Please make arrangements to meet this requirement so we can activate your bidder number."

I read that also, its why i'm still thinking, I was thinking of going after a couple shells myself. Main thing holding me up will be what/how to get them if I won.

I think everyone here will be STUNNED at the amount of money those shells bring. I have talked to a few members planning to buy shells, only problem is they are planning to pay about 20% of what they will bring. I suspect next weeks conversations will dominated by how much the cars brought!

I agree Frank, they will most likely bring big bucks and the chances of getting a bargain deal on one is probably not realistic. This is how I sold the I idea of registering for the auction to my wife (slim chances of actually winning one.)!

Everyone likes to get a bargain, and as unlikely as it may be in this situation (I called the auction house and they can't even keep up with the phones so many people are calling)...I can at least dream!

LOL! I actually talked to someone that was going to STEP RIGHT UP for the ram jet 572 convertible and throw a Hale Mary Bid of $12K, ROFLMAO! He said he might step up to $12,500 at the last second if he has to be sure he gets it! Talked to some other guys willing to pay upwards or $2500 for the shells! WOW! LOL! The way the bidding is set up if a last minute snipe bid comes in, the auction is extended, this could go on for weeks!

People will get caught up in the moment and will bid to win. Nobody likes to loose. I have seen people on ebay over pay all the time.

Some of the shells have the VIN tag on the firewall and others don't have the firewall shown in the pic. Who knows if the VIN tag is still attached to the car. How would you even get another VIN tag if it's missing?

LOL indeed. I used to have such fantasies of making the hell-deal but those days are gone. As you said - people will be shocked at what this stuff will go for. I actually have someone who lives less than 10miles from the location (of the shells) with a big (personal) shop and truck/trailer so it kills me to know that these things will go for more than I can afford right now, otherwise I'd be set. I figured on bidding on some of the smaller stuff as well as one or two of those cars but then I got to figuring what if I win the small stuff and not one of the cars - what am I going to do then? End up with those nice orange fenders but not the orange '69 to go with them? And drive out for some fenders? lol.

And while we are on a reality-check....those who have not priced shipping a non-rolling shell (body dolly dosn't count) - it is not the same as shipping a working, running, braking vehicle. Check into it first before comitting a bid.

And yes, I too would love the 572 convertable but I know I'm not the only one so I'll probably not bother. Even at the $20k I could afford, I know it's going to go for WAY more than that. Don't get me wrong here - I'm happy to be wrong and wish everyone the very best of luck but Frank makes a very valid point. For those local to the event that are always saying "you West Coast guys always get the good cars"....well, I guess this is one of those times when you get your own back

I don't plan on bidding, but that orange 69 shell with the billet brake lights caught my eye. I just checked to see what the price is at and I don't see it anymore. Is it still up for auction?

I am sure it is a Chip Foose 69. It would have been nice if it found it's way to the person waiting for it to be built prior to all this bankruptcy BS.

it doesn't seem to be well advertised... If you google unique performance it was still just the website that came up... Not the auction site... They could make a lot more money if they advertised a bit!

Has anyone talked to the auction house. I havent been able to contact them and am a little weary about wiring a deposit to someone I havent even talked to.
