      RIP Sharon Andre (Mom)

My mom passed away yesterday at 3:17 pm PST from lung cancer and various other complications, she was 67. This may not be the most appropriate topic on this forum but I just wanted to let more of the world know about the wonderful person that shaped my life, as she raised me and my sister on her own. She was opiniated but felt strong in her opinions, and over the last 8 years I bonded with her incredibly well (I had gotten divorced and met a great woman, who helped me become a mature man, and my mom was very happy about that). I learned a lot from her in life, and now I find that I am still learning through her death. Thankfully I spent the last 8 years talking to her 2-3 times per week minimum, sometimes for an hour or more, and I saw her frequently as well. She lived a mile from the refinery and would come visit me for 30 minutes every so often, bringing me food and candy. I will love and miss her forever! Thanks for the great memories mom!!!

PS - I apologize ahead of time for this long off-topic thread , I hope it helps my pain though...

Don't feel bad at all, Jeff, for posting up about this. I lost my mom last March to stomach cancer. She was 57, never smoked, was very active (mountain biking, kayaking, motorcycling, antiquing, etc) so it sort of caught us off guard. I'm just glad that we were close and I got to enjoy her company for the first 35 years of my life. My biggest regret is that she didn't get to see my kids grow up (they were 4 and 6 at the time).

Anyway, if you need someone to talk with, feel free to PM me. For me, it has been pretty hard, but it's all of those positive memories I have that seem to help the most.

Jeff....very sorry to hear about that. As long as you remember the lessons in life that she taught you, she'll always be with you. And don't feel nervous about posting this stuff in here. This is what this place is for....we're all friends. And it's natural for you to reach out to friends in times of crisis. We're here for ya.

Keep your chin up, kid. It's what Mom would want.

Jeff, she raised a good kid. She's not in any pain anymore. Remember that. If you ever need anything, you know you have us locals to help keep your chin up.

      Jeff,
I too am sorry to hear of your loss. My father-in-law had a close call two weeks ago with heart surgery but seems to be better now.
It is hard to lose those we love, but we must remember that we are all part of God's master plan and have to let go when He takes one home. Death is only hard on the ones left behind, and I am sure your mother would tell you she is ok if she could. After the battle she has endured the last several years, she is no longer suffering. Time heals all and talking about it with friends also helps. You and your family will be in our prayers.

I'm sorry to hear that man. She obviously left great memories, instilled strong character, and great impression, that's all any of us can ever hope for.

We are all keeping you both in our thoughts,
      -Matt

      Mom's

From one Jeff to another, I say great (not good) on you for making the effort to know her. You're a better man for it. My mom is the same way- she raised 4(+) of us.

My condolences, and remember all the positives you pointed out; they'll help you deal with this.
