      C5 instrument cluster

I was wondering if anyone has tried putting a C5 instrument cluster in their car. You can find them on Ebay with HUD for a pretty good price.

I saw a 69 trans am clone at cruisin' the coast a couple weeks ago that had a complete 04-06 GTO interior in it. It looked so good I wanted to rip my entire interior out. I have owned many C5's and a C6 & had thought about the dash many times. would like to do this at some point in the future but not sure I have the fab skills needed. I would think the dash would work with the right senders. I have an LS1 so that may make things easier knowing the senders might be able to be used in conjunction with the stock ECM. Like to see what you find out.

That was my 69 trans am, and thanks for the compliment. Depending on the year you would probably need the BCM (body control module) to run the cluster. On mine I used the PIM (power interface module) TCM (throttle control module) and ECM (engine control module) along with the BCM, for all the systems to work. It can be done you would need the wiring schematics of the cluster and modules. The most difficult part was removing the ABS fault and Traction Control fault from the driver information center. Fortunately on the 04 cluster those signals are generated by a wire from the ABS and traction control. All I had to do was clip the wires to the cluster and the fault codes went away. On the 05-06 clusters (GTO) those signals are delivered to the cluster via serial data. Hope this helps.

Sam that is one of the nicest interiors i have seen. If you get a chance, email me some pics so I can store them for future reference. Thanks for all the info. I have access to the parts, just not sure I'm ready to tackle that job yet. I just finished my 69 in April & we are doing a 68 firebird convertible now. My email is [email protected] Really enjoyed looking at your car.
