How much Mat would be needed to do a '69 Camaro? Might as well get it all at once.

The amount of sound deadening mat you use is dependant on your specific goals. With vibration damping and structure borne noise, the more you do, the better the results will be.

There is a point of diminishing returns for each of the products we sell, which is why we have so many options.
Since structure borne noise can account for as much as 60% of the unwanted noise in a car, you really have to do a good job on the vibration control before you start using any of the other barriers, filters or foams that help reduce airborne noise.

If you did the entire car in Damplifier or Damplifier Pro, and nothing else, you would need about 120-160 sq feet.

I have had some guys load us 240 -300 sq feet in cars this size.
More than I would use or suggest using, but some guys go nuts.

If you are only going to use Spectrum, our noise coating a 5 gallon pail is a nice start for cars that size. I wouldn’t use less.
Ideally, 8 gallons is about right.
This will allow you to do the interior and undercoating of the car.

The best results are always achieved with a combination of both the Damplifier Pro and Spectrum.

Our most popular foundation for cars of this size is 80 sq feet of Damplifier Pro and 5 gallons of Spectrum.
We sell more of that combo than any other.

      Truly amazing!

      Hope that helps

So with the intent of having a car that is comfortable to ride in but by no means a Mercedes and wanting to keep the weight contribution minimal. Could you suggest a plan for the use of the two products?

I.E. "put the spectrum in these places and the damplifier in these places for best result."

Yeah. Good for a track/street car and better than stock.

Give me an idea of how much weight you don't mind adding.
If I have some sort of limit, I can do a much better job for you.

I'd like it to weigh less than the stock material.

If it contributes 100-150lbs I suppose I could live with it. But I know of people who have put over 200lbs of dynamat in their cars. No way am I going that far.

What I'm thinking of doing is applying the spectrum darn near everywhere and using the damplifier in the doors, on the roof, rear bulkhead and floor pans.

Is the stuff best used by placing the material in a large field to damp (mass attenuation) vibration, or is it intended to entirely cover surfaces (insulation)?

Sidebar: What is the efficacy of this stuff in terms of insulating against heat?
