started as a simple MC question...
until I read thru ALL the posts in this section. Alright I have a '73 Nova power disc/drum. When I logged on tonite all I wanted to ask was what master cylinder should I use to go from power brakes on my car to a manual brake setup leaving everything else stock? I was looking at a mastercylinder for a '70 camaro with manual disc/drum, would that one work? It has a deep pushrod hole and 1"bore. Also where do I get a pedal pushrod? I was planning on junking the combo valve and running and adjustable proportioning valve on the rears.
Now for new questions that have risen. I also have a rear disc setup from a '79 ws6. Unfortunatley the only thing really usable from my salvage special is the brackets, the rotors are shot and obviously I would want new calipers and pads. So okay $300.00 or so to get that up and working. (I work at napa) Then I found the C4 swap for the rear which looks appealing. I really want a rear disc setup w/parking brake. Would a C4 kit on the rear be too much brakes in comparison to my stock fronts? Or would I need to upgrade them too? Is there anyway to put C4 disc brakes on my stock disc spindles? And if I ended up with 4 wheel disc, which master would I need then?
Geez damn pro touring bug, all I wanted to do was get rid of the ugly booster in my engine bay and spend like $60.00 on anew master, now I am up to like a $1000.00 or more. I will admit I was pretty happy with the performance of my stock brakes it never let me down. It is just a street terror and budget is a issue (read-college student!)
Ha!

Well I looked some more and I cant afford to do C4 kits all the way around so I think im going to use my Ws6 parts and get a Lokar handhled e-brake and upgrade the front rotors and pads. It is just going to be a street car after all.

So which master is best for stock front discs and the ws6 rear discs?
And which master is best for just converting my power brakes to a manual disc/drum setup?
