lmfao, funny stuff...........pwned really didnt start getting popular usage until the quake1 days of multiplayer online FPS deathmatches used to let everyone know how you just dominated another player in general chat.

years later as internet forums became more and more popular people outside the gaming community started using it too and it has since spread.

      Absolutely !!!

Guys like Bob could just write a check and buy a Bugatti Veyron. Thank God they invest in American Muscle !!!

      This is absolutely right.

I enjoy the building part as much as anything else, but it takes many thousands of hours to build a top notch car. Even if you had the skills, who could dedicate that amount of time to building something themselves on top of a regular job? Got a couple of decades to spare? Besides, everyone pays for somethings - mined any ore for your block lately?

exactly bob. If not for the high end cars, these guys who build them, Troy, Foose, Alloway, Johnson, etc. wouldn't be able to earn a living. If not for someone with a check book and a dream, there would be no 1200 hp twin turbo small blocks out there. There'd be countless fabricators, designers, engineers out of a job. Whole industries are built around providing "check writers" with something to write them for.

The cars they build serve as an example. Something we all can point to and say "see honey? that's what that pile in the drive way *can* look like."

Exactly!!!! The guys that cry about "Check writers" have no idea all the time and effort that goes into getting a car of that caliber right. I bet a lot of the parts that are commonplace today wouldn't be here for them to just "bolt on" had it not been for some check writing pioneer who thought "It would be cool if we did this part like this!" and made it happen!

Looks like we got off topic here.

So how come none of the news reporters are tracking down people from Tecstar for comments? Is it not the responsibility of the parent company to see what everyone is up to?

      haha Bob got pwned

here's the deal when reading most of the jargon on the web. What does pwned look like? Looks like someone misspelled owned to me. There ya go. Mainly just think about what it looks like and go from there. Be careful with the acronyms like DILLIGAF, OTOH, ROFLAMMFAO to list a few as they can be difficult to decipher

to shed some light on this subject, as I understand it Quantum owned Unique Concepts...a different company that Hasty was also involved with that built the Foose Mustangs. They were in a different facility in Haslet Texas. not the same company as Unique. A friend of mine sold Regency Conversions to Quantum a year or so ago. They had Regency do $400K worth of paint jobs on Foose Mustangs and I don't think Regency was ever paid for the paint jobs but Quantum owned both so I don't guess there was anything particularly wrong except it made Regency do $400K worth of work that didn't produce revenue to the bottom line of Regency. So I guess rumor is that Foose is pulling the plug on Unique Concepts thus I guess that Doug Hasty operation is going to be experiencing some problems too. People here are confusing Unique Concepts with Unique..they are 2 separate operations..I was in Vegas for the NHRA drags and SEMA and went by the Shelby Facility that is right at the entrance to the NHRA and NASCAR facilities. He had a whole bunch of new Mustangs sitting across from the facility waiting to be modified. I don't know if Shelby might start doing the Foose Mustangs..there are a serious number of raw cars there.. I understand Quantum's stock is not performing quite up to par...kinda like the group that bought out Weld Wheels, B. Coddington, American etc. etc. what a fiasco that must be. This might not be 100% actual facts, but they are closer than anyone on here has posted so far.

It took him several years and quite a few dollars to get the rights to his name back.
I talked to him at a show once and he seem real nice one on one. A lot of people say he is an ass but some take people differently.
I talked to Foose once and he was very uncivil.
Several people in the auto industry are very rude and could careless how to help a person on a budget.
Talked to Currie ent. on a rear end and all they wanted to do was sell me a new diff all done, didnt want to help with parts or what would work on older stuff etc. I now use Moser.
Snapped 9 sets of Strange axles way back when , went with Summers Bros. and actually twisted one and got it covered even though they gave no written warranty on that number.
Had serious issues with Centerline wheel same time had Strange Axle issuesthe axles flexed so much (information I now have) that the axles were axtually busting the wheels but Welds racing wheels never showed an issue.
Boyd had some serious issues getting work and he was even teamed up with Foose and others for a while to keep the money coming in.

not to be rude but you're way off base with your portrayal of Boyd and Foose..I know that story very well. Foose is nice to a fault..The man has so much going and on his mind you must have caught him at a bad moment..and with him, that doesn't happen very often. Nothing could be further from the truth than how you have portrayed Boyd and the reason for his demise..ask anyone that's in touch with this industry..I was at the Boyd Bankruptcy..there were so many sets of junk wheels that had been made on his own CNC machines it was unbelievable...all they could be used for is those chairs and tables that are made out of wheels. But they were on his books as good inventory and the bank was loaning money on them...Every single stock investor lost their whole investment and the banks lost their shirt too..If you believe that malarky in your post, I've got some good swamp land I need to sell you..You will see Budweiser and Miller teaming up, Coca Cola and Pepsi teaming up, before Boyd and Foose team up..I don't know who told you that but it's dead wrong..Granted Foose did work for Boyd's when Boyd was "the man" pre Boyd Bankruptcy, but you will never see that again.

When we(Rodger, Mick and I) were at the airport in Columbus after the Good Guys show this year, we were a little early for our flight so we decided to grab a bite to eat. Wouldn't you know it but there was Boyd and his wife just finishing up there meal! As we passed by we said hi and all we got was a quick glance from Boyd and his wife as if to say "Oh! Who the hell are you to be saying hi to me!". We just kind of shrugged it off and sat down at our table. Boyd and wife left. Not a minute later Chip Foose and his dad come walking up and get seated inside the restaurant. Mick decides to go over and say hello. 15 minutes later Rodger and I are wondering what happen to Mick. We go inside and there he was talking to Chip and his Dad like they were old buddies! We joined in on the conversation and Chip and his Dad couldn't have been nicer!

this is what 99% of the people would say. As I said, Chip is nice to a fault. He's so congenial and giving, jack-offs take advantage of him and his personal time and space. If he isn't a good will ambassador for this hobby, WTF is? i have often said, he needs someone to be with him to stop all the hounders from taking advantage of him..I saw a guy at the Year One Braselton Bash have his 2 girls approach Foose at least 10 times getting him to sign all kinds of BS so he could go home and put it on ebay or something.

I know a guy who went for a walk at an outdoor show, came back to get in his car for a drive and was blocked in by a car that was double parked. "Anyone know who owns this car?" "Yeah, that's him over there." He walks over to find Boyd with a few people around him. "Could you please move the car so I can get out?" Boyd answers "Do you have any idea who the F*** I am?"
