Well today was pretty much the last day for body work on my 1967 Firebird Convertible. This has definetely been a learning experience for me. I originally purchased the car back in May had everything replaced new quarters new finders everything. So i got it and right from the get go it has a dent on the passenger and drivers side quarter right on the crease.

So I figure screw it I work at a body shop this shouldn't be too hard to fix. Well I was wrong. Turns out whoever did the quarters got made or something because when I started to sand it down it was taking quite a while to get down to bare metal. There was over an inch and a half of bondo on the passenger side quarter the drivers had about an inch. All in all i spent about 30 hours on each side pulling and popping to get the quarters back out. I still unfortunately had to use finishing glaze to get it perfect, but it is a mere swipe on the quarters 4 inches up and down from the crease.

So on Monday it gets primered for the last time, then wetsanded and hopefully by the end of the week PAINT. I'm so excited. Then from there I have to put all the new weather stripping on, get a new front winshield, and get my interior redone two tone , and last but not least get the new top on. After all the cosmetics are done then i get to install my new comp cam and clean up the engine bay.

I can relate to your issues. That's why I don't trust anyone else to work on my stuff, I'd rather do it all myself. Then I know what's actually under the paint.
Amazing what a hammer and dolly can do in the right hands.

no current pics unfortunately cause i was thrown in a pool and lost my camera and all my money has been going toward the car. hopefully ill be able to borrow a friends and upload some.

I know i know no pics but today was a great day. I got the car sealed today to tomorrow it will get wetsanded angain and probably on Wednesday it will get painted if our paint booth isn't full.

Here the plan if all stays on schedule.
Wednesday- Paint
Thursday- Wetsand, buff....
Friday- wetsand, buff

Then the next week it's putting all the rest of the stuff in like carpet, weatherstripping, hooking up all the lights, getting the new top installed. Install my new comp cam Then test drive to see how everything is working. Hopefully the boss will stitch up my seats so i can have nice seats to sit on. so i'm thinking 3 weeks total cause i always seem to have things that come up and get in the way. I still need to get a new complete lock set, an air filter, and a new steering wheel, i'll be running open headers for awhile cause of lack of funds lol.

So Last saturday i got it all taped up. Word of advice its a pain in the ass to do this when it's really windy out.

Got most of it wetsanded today so hopefully it'll be done by tomorrow then a few touch ups on the body and then that will get painted as loong as the booth is open.

Well i took my car out of the shop that i was working at as my boss was looking at getting shut down by the IRS. Anyway before i had taken it out i really hadn't been able to work on it for about 5 months which sucked. Taking 5 classes and working full time doesn't leave anytime fore the project.

Now that the car is in my garage it has gotten a lot more work done. Still trying to finish up the engine and of course the unforeseen problems that arise with doing that (leaking water pump and radiator). It has all new gaskets and will more or less stay stock well at least with what came on it when i got it. I'm hoping to have the engine finished up by next week when my new aluminum radiator comes.

Well the car is officially running now i have a few things to finish up but its pretty much done. So that's the #1 thing checked off my list. I'll post some pics as soon as I find my transfer cable for my camera.

Painted the jam on the trunk and the underside of the new trunk lid. Tomorrow i will finally be painting the rest of the car. I will post some pictures later tonight, gotta go see the girlfriend she says she has a present for me for laying down some paint .
