      help, custom clutch?

So I'm doing a rather interesting conversion. I'm putting a 89 supra turbo 5 speed behind a 5.2 magnum small block. With a 3.9 dakota bellhousing everything bolts up and lines up perfect, but I'm not sure what to do about the pressure plate and clutch setup.. I have a 5.2 flywheel and I've been comparing clutch specs pretty much all day. it seems the supra input shaft is 21 spline x 1 1/8 diam, and it's oem clutch is 9 5/16 inches (236 mm). the dodge oem clutch is 10 spline x 11 inches (280 mm), correct me if I'm wrong, I don't have it handy to measure.
is it just a matter of fitting the supra clutch inside the mopar pressure plate, I really don't expect this to be true, so don't judge.

If not, I was looking through available clutches, and for the 5.2 there's an upgrade to a 12" clutch (305 mm). This is interesting to me because I also found that a GMC topkick has a 300mm clutch with a 21 spline x 1 1/8 diameter. those are pretty close, would that work?

or am I, in the end going to have to find someplace that will make me a clutch custom? any leads?

I really don't mean to make my posts as long as they are, I just like to put everything out there.-

OK so I think I have a solution. I can use a stock dodge flywheel that used a pressure plate with a 10.5 " clutch, and use a 9 7/8" clutch disc from a toyota pathfinder that has the same input shaft. it would leave 3/8 inch missing around the perimeter of the disc, but my intuition tells me this will be ok

You got the simple solution nailed. Flywheels go with engines. Pressure plates (covers) go with flywheels. Disks go with transmissions.

Call any competent clutch company and they should be able to make you a 10.5" disk with the Toyota input spline.

who would I call. I emailed centerforce (no reply yet) and i sent a big old email to Ram Clutches, and all i got back was "sorry, can't help you", definately not going to them, didn't get the feelign they even tried. I don't know anyone who makes clutches in or near connecticut, and I tried calling a few places but they were all just distributors.

I would not send emails. Call. Try Spec or Carolina Clutch. Maybe ACT or Clutch Masters.

call a local big rig repair place, and ask where they get their clutches re-lined, then call that place and ask questions. I would just re-line a stock supra disc with whatever friction material you choose, and use a stock 10.5 mopar replacement pressureplate.
If you dont have a supra dic, try an import auto wrecker, they may be able to get you a disc.
