      The LS3 delivers!

      http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=745977

484rwhp UNTUNED with just headers, cam, and K&N. This will hit 500+rwhp tuned, with no problem.

Stock, the autos are putting down ~380rwhp. I suspect the M6 cars will be pretty close to 400rwhp, stock.

The stock numbers are pretty impressive, but 500rwhp cam only is astounding. Not to mention, the car only had 29 miles and the LS3 has only been in the hands of the aftermarket for a few short weeks. It looks like 600rwhp should be attainable with an aggressive heads/cam package.

Wow, I didn't even know they were on the market yet. Very impressive numbers. This engine just proves that the L92 heads are totally worth it if you have a 6.0 liter motor. Those are the heads that come on the LS3 and I plan to use them on my 6.6 liter build whenever that might occur.

I think it's safe to say that things have gotten ridiculous. The LS1 has become almost obsolete with the advent of these heads. The LS3 has achieved power levels in one week with just a cam, headers and intake that it took the LS1 7-8 years to reach. Simply unbelievable. 500 rwhp has become the new 400 rwhp for GM engines. Just wait until the aftermarket really develops for these motors.

Gotta love the LSX platform. I'm happy that GM just keeps making things better each couple years.

Suddenly the LS7 Z06 isn't quite as impressive as before...

Impressive numbers, although I suspect that the cam used is very aggressive. Then again peak HP numbers sell parts.

This is sort of pertinent to the conversation:

What was the first year for the L92, or more specifically, the L92 heads? Do they have to be shaved or modified in any way to run on a gen III LS1/6? Or do they just bolt on?

You have to have a 4 in bore Ralph. So the LS1/6 must be bored in order to work. Aside from that it's a bolt on deal provided you use the L76 intake as well. As for first year, I believe it was with the new design Yukons which was 06 maybe?

I agree. Typically, the LG X4 cam will result in 570-580 rwhp for a LS7. The lift is over .600" with a 1.8 rocker.

On that same note you cannot bore an LS1/LS6 to 4 inches the max is 3.910 without sleeving which is more expensive than just buying an LS2 or something else with an 4 in bore.

Do the LQ9 6 liter engines have a 4 inch bore?

Do they have a combination that is a little more street friendly and maybe comes in at around 475-500 rwhp?

yes, aside from the 4.8 all Gen 3 motors have the same crank throw. Therefore, they bored the engines in order to increase displacement. The 6.0 liters all have a 4 inch bore. That's the LQ4/9 and LS2. The 6.2 liter engines of course can handle the L92 heads as that is what comes on them from the factory
