      Incredible Product Breakthrough!!

Watch the demo for the new IPhone from Apple. I'm an old school cellphone type who hates PDA's but I am completely sold on this deal. The demo is fun to watch too.

When I saw the commercial on TV I wanted one too. But I'm guessing its gonna be at least $500. Way more than I'm willingto spend on a phone. I currently use a Palm TREO that I've been wanting to upgrade (I got if for free).

Yes the 4GB model will be $499 and the 8GB model $599. Those prices are with a mandatory 2 year AT&T agreement! (or extension if you already have AT&T) I think it's killer but won't support business email (yet). Sigh, gotta keep my Blackberry....

Hell, I bought a Mac just so I could get one of these phones. Time to trade in my tin-can-and-string model.

yeah, well I still have to get finance committee approval.

As far as dropping it, no worse than a cell phone or iPod, I'd guess.

I already spent way too much money on a stereo and cel phone and computer, so i'm gonna have to wait a loooong time before i spend too much money to combine the three together into one thing. It's pretty neato, though.

Me too. Although, I doubt it will drop anywhere below $350 in the forseeable future. 30GB ipods are still $250.

And Apple starts selling them to Verizon so you can actually use it...

AT&T has the slowest network, and is the only network you can get an iphone through. battery life is sub par with what Apple hyped it up to be, and you better take a class to learn how to use the thing.

I've heard that EDGE (the wireless network of AT&T) suddenly got a huge boost of speed today for some *odd* reason. I'm told that now downloads are much faster, and web pages and maps load instantly.
Coincidence? I think not. Looks like they were holding out on some bandwidth until the iphone came out.

Rubes, mind if I ask what you like/dislike about the Treo?

I am being told by corporate to choose between a Treo and the Cingulair 8525, but I just don't know which way to go.

I like the features of both, but I really want the phone to work, as a phone first and foremost, and that means being easily able to punch in a number while driving, and not having to stare at a screen without the feel of buttons, and possibly having trouble seeing in the sunlight.

      Thanks.

Mine is the older Treo 600. the newer ones have some beter features I'm sure. It's actually easier to punch in numbers on the screen rather than the buttons, but you could do it either way. The favorites makes it very easy to select a number for "quick dialing". Never had any problem seeing the screen at all. I liked being able to add other applications, like pocket quicken, so when I'm on the road its easier to track expences then simply sync and have them loaded to your destop application. I used to carry a PDA and a phone and it was a real pain. Mine had the dreaded "Buzz" issue that made it almost impossible for the person I called to understand anything I said, yet on my side it was fine. I had to disassemble it to add some shielding. I hope they fixed it on the newer models. I do use it primarily as a phone though, and sometimes a notepad. Never tried email or web access.

Thank you. I hope to use it for emails as well, so I can respond more quickly while out on the road.

The 8525 connects to the laptop so I can get internet access over the cell system (3G on AT&T/Cingulair) if need be, but would I use it is the question?

      Thanks again.
