After all the great job you have done on this beast, it is sad to see it being cut and taken apart again, but I am sure it is going to look as good as it used to be or even better..

      good luck steve

The shop has cleared out the cars ahead of me and can now work full time on Penny.

New quarter and rear panel being test fitted. Next up is to pull the old tank and build a new trunk floor. Oh, and fix the passengers side rear quarter.

      Steve,

Are you using NOS parts or repops? It looks like the shop has a good start on her and it won't be long to you have some driving time.

Looking good Steve. When will the article be published on the quarter replacement? I'm looking forward to the article. Any ETA on when Penny will be completed? Are you going to do an article on the new gas tank?

Not sure.. I did just write one (and it's out) for Camaro Performers.. this one might not be out until our Paint and Body issue in March...

Trying to get done by mid September...

      Update..

My new 18.5 gallon FUEL SAFE bladdered fuel cell arrived. We should have the cage done for it by tomarrow.

      The cell top:

      Without the top (the bladder):

From the back (cage not welded in yet) - Just barely hangs down...

Tough to tell from the photos Steve, but by how much does that particular cell protrude above the normal trunk floor?

Less than three inches.. I didn't want the tank to hang down as much as before. If I was going to re-do it I might drop it one inch lower, but this way it will be easy to see the pretty three-link.

It just arrived at the shop, I haven't seen it in person. I get to go play with it on Monday.. It's an off the shelf bladder with a custom (hat type) top.. this meant I needed to go with the Aluminm can, which saves weight.

The lower can will be powdered to match the frame, the top will be left safety red.

So the bladder dimensions are fixed, and you can modify the dimensions (vertically) of the can?

      I did not know that.

They have various bladder sizes and matching cans. What you can alter is how where the flanges are located. I could have mounted flush with the trunk floor and had the tank hang down farther. I went for a more subdued look.

Now I need to decided on the color of the can..red or dark grey.. hmmm
