DC controller question

I've noticed that the DC controller can be set to keep running after you shut off your car by connecting the wire that normally goes to the ignition to the battery. Makes sense then that any other controller should also work like this.

Am I off base here ??? Also, is it that advantageous to let the fan run or a while to cool down faster?? And, how much drain on your battery is the controller just sitting there ???

All it will do is reduce the coolant temperature in the radiator. It will not affect the engine temperature cool-down rate except for the small amount of radiated heat removed for the short time the fans will be on.

I decided against it for safety reasons. I often stick my hands down into a hot engine compartment and therefore did not want it coming on at the wrong time.

I had mine hooked up like that and I changed it to a switched power source. Mostly to save the battery and because the fan was super loud.
