Question about intakes for the L92

I wanted to ask this over here as I don't know which throttle body to use on my swap/install into a Pontiac A-body. I think I need #69737 cable drive product not #69735 LS2 2005 Corvette, is this correct?

I want to use a L92 block or possible a LS2 block as these LS2 intakes are a lot cheaper than a fast 90/90 or fast/nw 90/90 setup. Will the LS2 Typhoon intake #52063 work on a L92 or is the GM L76 intake the only option at this point? <The LS2 Intake will not work on a L92 block, only option is GM L76 intake at this point>

Anyone know if there are there plans for a L92 specific intakes from manufacturers that are not sheet metal and cost $1,800.00+?
Professional Products may in the future produce a L92 intake if there is enough demand as per a email I got from them today 18 Apr 07

sorry for all the newbie questions.

      I have not decided on a LS2 or a L92 yet. I have read about 551rwhp L92/L76 combinations.
A LSX is out as they don't come in aluminum and cost way to much for my horse power goals of 600rwhp.

an electronic throttle would clean up your engine compartment, especially if you're going to use cruise control. but remember that you will also need an electronic gas pedal and tac module. i believe most computers are programmable for either style t/b (double check that with one of the computer weinies). as for the rest just call one of the bigger builders and just ask him those questions as if you were going to have them build it.

Yes, you will need a wired TB to use, unless you want to pull all the wiring and ECU out of a donor car/truck and hook it all up so you can use the wireless set up.

Any LS-x block will work. They're all the same as far as mounting points go for the heads. LS1, LS2, L79, LQ9, LQ4 are all the same... The intake is different on the L92 because the intake pushrods are moved, which also means you need a different set of intake rockers for the heads.

The L92 intake is the only one that will work on those heads.

Not as far as I know. But I wouldn't be surprised if one comes out in the next few years, if GM continues production on them.

Again, all the LS-x blocks are the same. Some are aluminum, some aren't. Differences are in the bore size (5.7 vs 6.0). You can get a complete LQ9 6L cast iron motor for around $1500 and then put whatever heads you want on it. That's what I'm doing.

A 600rwhp motor will not be "streetable" unless you're going to stroke it to over 420+ ci.. In my opinion.

      um....

I planed on using a 05 - 06 GTO pedal assembly is this a electronic setup?

I will have to source a LS2 / L92 ECU & wiring & then mod it to work with my setup. The directions on L1tech don't seam to be that hard to follow for converting to a stand alone harness/Ecu setup.

So I have two Engine Choices..

      So I have to decide between a LS2 and a L92 again.

There are not a lot of head choices for the L92 yet.

I think that 600rwhp might be pushing it, but 550+ is nice
The rear has 33 spines, I would not want to under use them..

I want something that will haul, handle, stop on a dime and look good too.

I will be using an auto so figure 18% loss from the flywheel to rear?

I think I will be using something from SDPC:
Short Block Assembly, L92, 416 CI, -10cc Dish
Intake Manifold, L76 / L92 Car, Complete Assembly, Drive By Wire

I would need to replace the injectors with 60Lbs otherwise that intake setup would be great. What would I need besides injectors & the throttle body if I went with the bare L92 Intake? bolts & gasket?
Intake Manifold, L76 / L92 Car, Bare Manifold

Can I use a LS2 throttle body with the L76 intake?

      [69737]

I can use LS2 fuel rails?
like :: Professional Products Complete Fuel Rail Kit (LS2) [10614]

Not sure if I will need a turbo setup, my plan was to do a NA 600rwhp
built or a TT 600rwhp. With a L92 6.2L that may be obtainable in a couple of months.

Now if someone wants to speck out a L92 build for me...

No offense, but your all over the place.

First choose turbo or NA. Then choose your displacement. If you go turbo huge displacement is not needed. With an NA engine, a stroker around 400ci will put you in the 500RWHP range pretty easily. If you have memories of driving your GTO with the Pontiac 400, this will be about DOUBLE the power.

Get a LS2 based 400+ inch short block. Add stock L92 heads with the L76 intake. Use a Holley 4 bolt throttle body, (the PP throttle body is 3 bolt). Use an LS1 style ECU designed for the 24 tooth crank wheel and your on your way. Make it simple. Stock L76 fuel rails and 42 lb/hr injectors will work great.

All over the place is an understatement...........

The L92 and LS-X motors ARE ALL THE SAME, aside from the crank size or the pistons. Just like a Pontiac motor, except no larger mains. Not sure how to make that clearer.. You're going to pay all the money for a L92 motor, because its new, just like the LS2's are bringing big bucks right now.

There are NO intake choices for the L92 head. There are no head choices because the L92 head will fit any LS-x block. The L92 block is a LS-x block!

Remember that the LS family injectors use a higher fuel pressure than what a standard EFI injector uses, so the HP rating is higher for the injector. The LS injectors use around 60psi.

With the knowledge you have, or more to the point, don't have, buy everything assembled. It'll be much easier and cheaper than making mistakes.

Fuel rails are L92 intake specific. You'll have to use those for now. The intake openings are offset on the L92 head (that's why you need different rockers) so the intake needs to be different too.

You could use a LS1 motor and twin turbo's and get 800hp at the rear wheels and have it driveable. There is a member here that has done just that. You don't want alot of cubes with turbo's. They work better with more RPM.

If I were you, I build a NA motor and whatever it makes, it makes. You'll be pleased no matter what. Something tells me you don't have much experience with high HP cars...

GM Performance actually does offer a single plane style manifold for the L92 heads.

Goatman, I thought L92 heads can only be used with LSX motors with a 4" bore? Meaning an LS1 or LS6 block cannot be used?

They'll physically bolt on.... But the bore does need to be increased on the smaller motors. Which is why I've been recommending the 6L blocks.

And I wasn't talking carbed intakes. But yes, there is a carb intake for the L92. I guess you could buy it, buy a carb style TB and drill and weld in bungs and injectors, then make your own fuel rails.
