      T56 - Tr6060

The february issue of PHR had a little blurb on page 19 about Tremec bringing an upgraded T56 to market. They are calling it the TR6060. Does anybody have any idea as to when these transmissions will be available in the aftermarket?

Are there any more details? Gear ratios? What configuration is it? LS1? Retrofit? Where is the shifter located?

      Details please!

First is pretty low and has a wide 1-2 ratio. Bummer.

According to Motor-Trend's article on the 08 Viper it also has triple cone synchros for first and second with double cones for the remainder of the gears. This is opposed to double cone 1 and 2 and single code 3-6 for the current trans. From personal experience the current synchros work well but not for very long if you are making decent power or driving hard. The upgrade should solve that.

5th gear looks useful (unlike the current T56 offerings). I'd like to know more about this tranny too.

TTC and D&D have and has always had a .80 5th offering, in both the 2.66 and 2.97 first boxes.

The new box is too wide and the 2.97 ratio first gives up a little strength.

If it came in the GT500 I think Kar Kraft has one for sale with 20 miles on it. I think it is $2200

I am under the impression from Tremec that the first gear is going to be in the 2.66 range which would be a good, useable first gear choice.
Also, there are supposed to be multiple shifter locations like the TKO's as well as provisions for both a mechanical or electrical speedo.
Internals are supposed to be all new and stronger. The case is supposed to be simlar to the current T56.
We will know for sure when it comes out.
