You cant powder coat over the body filler becuase it goes in a oven it actually melts the roof to quarter filler a smidge. But man let me tell you when you do everything i mean everything is coated in places you can never get a paint gun.One of the best things weve started doing.
so....for all the minor tweeks needed to get the body arrow straight you apply the filler to the powdercoat? I have been wanting to atleast do the interior of my car kinda like Troy Trepainier(sp?) did with sick fish, but I figured a lot of masking would have to happen, but if I can get the body as straight as possible in bare metal prior to powdercoating then do all body work on top that would be the way to go.

I can't wait to see this car in action.

btw: sorry about the thread hyjack...maybe I should make a new post in the body/paint section

I started a new thread if you would rather post in there, thanks for fielding all my questions

Yeah, what he asked. I thought about doing this years ago after being real happy with a powder coating results on everything else, but got talked out of it.

So you do your metalwork, maybe apply some all-metal to the worst of it, sandblast and powdercoat, and then when you are ready for paint you sand and use regular bodyfiller as needed ?

My biggest concern would be getting the bodyfiller much less the paint to stick to powdercoat. Obviously you are sanding it, but that stuff is normally very slick.

Shouldn't have mentioned that Tom, its taking away attention from then engine which I'm sure is where you want the attention focused.

BTW I haven't seen anything ont he drivetrain or did I miss it ? What's holding all that power ?

      questions on powder coating

There are two ways you can do it they will powdercoat the car with a powdercoat primer which is ready for paint or just regular powder coating I Actually use the regular powdercoating and sand it.My body guy Scott Formally Scotts Customs says that it has a good material thickness so he blocks it out before adding primer which makes the car pretty straight before priming.I had no problems with it sticking once it was sanded. It really is a nice way to do things. The f-bomb has a tci powerglide with a strange 9 inch 40 spline axles it's pretty stout.Suspension is a big anti roll bar a set of calverts and some 10.5 w's for the track. Will use some custom 18 inch budniks for Texas.
