      GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrr......

I saw that first thing this morning. NOT happy about it at all, but my guess is that this is a better move for him. And for you guys, he's terrific. What's it mean for us? I dunno, I was pissed when the Chargers let our starter QB go to New Orleans and the end of the season (Drew Brees), but our untested rookie QB is doing really, really well this year (Phillip Rivers), so who knows?

It always makes me wonder though, why/how we can be so loyal to our home teams, when none of the players or managers are!?!?! Case inpoint, Johnny Damon: I will NEVER play for the New York Yankees. Um, really Johnny? I think the New Yorkers hated him a few years back, now they love him, and the Bostonions hate him now. Funny, eh? I will tell you though, it won't matter if Bonds was traded to the Pad's (which wouldn't happen), I still wouldn't like that guy.

Should be an interesting year next year, like always!

I married a San Diegan so it makes me a Bolts/Pads fan by default, my home states only pro sports team was the OKC Hornets for a short time( they got better attendance than in New Orleans ever had).
I had the chance to see the all the Pads home games against the Giants in the 2005 NLCS West series. I sat in left field and boo'd Bonds with everyone else at Petco. He totally buckled and went 0 for like 10 or something and he pretended to come up lame everytime a ball was hit to him, making the center fielder pull doublr time. What a chump. Hank Aaron will not be surpassed by Bonds in my book, no matter how many he hits. He ought to have an astriks sign by his numbers.
BTW, how is the lineman coming along that was shot by the off duty cop?

Hopefully Giants ownership will give Bochy better personel to work with than he had in SD. Another season hovering around .500 will drive me nuts. Though I'd rather watch a young team struggle and improve than a bunch of old guys decline.

As much as it pains me to say so, we will both be playing catch-up to the Dodgers for a few years. They have more coin to play with, a stronger farm system and IMO Ned Colletti (their GM, former Giants asst. GM) is the best GM in the National League.

True, Ned Colletti had the best teacher of them all. Brian Sabean. He now knows how to do something with very little, but he also has the money to back him. He just needs better talent to work with.

As for Bochy.... I actually like this pick up. Our young staff needs someone who can put some trust in them, and this guy can do it. I'm sick and tired of the one pitcher for one hitter deal. Let a guy play for once. I'm glad that there was ONLY ONE team he even considered managing for besides staying with the Padres. And on top of that, he's got a MUCH more talented staff to work with up here. Prepare to see an average San Diego Padres next year....

I'm glad that there was ONLY ONE team he even considered managing for besides staying with the Padres.
I read in the paper a few weeks back that he had been "allowed" to speak with the Cubs. I said, "what!!!" I didn't even really realize he was thinking about leaving. Then I thought, well, if he's going to leave, at least he's going to my original hometown team (I grew up in Chicago). E-ghads, now he is going to the "enemy."

I agree though, LA seems to be looking pretty good. Worst part about LA, when they play us, it's close enough for the L-Aliens to come down and watch the game here. And it attracts the a$$holes, which means fights, rude people, and other violence. I went to the game years back where we took the division from them in the last home stand against them, it was still at the Murph (I still have a hard time calling it Qualcom). Along with literally hundreds of arrests as I recall it, there were something like 50 broken windshields in the parking lot after the game. Nice.

That whole deal with the Charger player getting shot is pretty shoddy as I understand it. It's pretty clear he was doing something that he shouldn't have, but the manner in which the "off duty" officer approached the whole thing was terribly suspect. I haven't been following it, or rather it hasn't made front page, but it would be really interesting to know the whole story. I also heard that Merriman, our newer defensive superstar, failed substance abuse and is looking to get suspended for four games. Wonderful. Never ends, even in "wholesome," family oriented San Diego.

I'll still be rootin' for the Pad's next year though. And the Chargers. And the Bears.

I think Ned was the real talent of that pair. Ned was the guy who negotiated the contract for Randy Wynn, Moises Alou and Omar Vizquel.
