Maximum deceleration

I currently have C4 13" fronts with 16" rims and 245/50-16 Firestone Z50's. Not bad . I can easily lock up the fronts and am working on my modulation skills. However, what specific improvements would make sense to increase/maximize my deceleration abilities? Tire recommendations, etc? I'd like to not have to buy new rims at this time so I'm thinking stickier tires?

It's all about the tires Rick. I've had pretty good luck with my Nitto 555RII's. The NT01 is supposed to be a better tire.

Or the Kumho's. Either is reasonably priced and work well. Just be carefull in wet conditions.

Hi, Carl. Looks like my choice is 245/50-16 in NT01 unless I upgrade to 17's.

Check carefully that the car does not hit the front bump stops too soon under braking, it can cause sudden wheel lock after the front settles. This usually shows up as one wheel locking and brief pulling to one side.
