Yeah...that's what I'm looking forward to. Putting it back together should be a lot more fun then taking it apart. I'll finally get to see it take shape.

J.T. Your car was one of the ones I reference when picking colors. I love how it looks. But your site is down so I haven't been able to look at any of your pictures. The white stripes look great against the Viper Blue. I wonder....what do you think a white SS stripe would look like on it with the Viper Blue? The SS stripe is the one that goes across the upper valance, over the fender and straight down the body side..

      Tony,
Hobbystage crashed or something...just been too busy and lazy too post the pics on a new page..... and I think the SS stripe idea would look good.... I went with the Rally Stripes because it was what I remembered seeing as a kid....did you tell your paint guy you wanted the stripe allready? my guy threw a hissy fit said I didnt tell him about it and he hadnt figured that into my quote etc. etc. even though I told him from the beginning ....I even brought him a Viper Gts die cast Toy with the paint and stripes and said this is the exact color and scheme i want...

No...he was cool with it. Just told me to make sure I got him a stencil kit or some dimensions to do it. He's a pretty laid back guy. TonyL did a photoshop for me.

      I don't know......I leaning toward it.

I'm going for the clean no stripe look, I have all the moldings, lower rocker, wheel well, reveal moldings, and drip rail all new GM, I might not even use any of it, Looking for the clean stripped down look,

no, not white.. go with a slightly pearlesent white as found on some infinities and Caddys.. will stand out in the crowd just a bit and would look stunning on the Viper blue paint.

      That's not a bad idea.

Actually if you look close at the stripe that Tony did, it almost looks pearlesent.

I don't know....I'd have to see the two colors next to each other in person.

Silver stripe with a blue pearl over just the stripe!

      Tony,
That looks sweet....I'd do like you said though and put the colors next to each other before deciding...my decision was easy I went with exactly what came on the Viper...the pearl white on the caddy's is nice its the same color my Escalade is...Attachment 12084....and DEFINATLEY order the stencil kit...its cheap and right on as far as the design and legnths etc. the stripe should be...

Get a paint sample of the blue and go hit an infinity or caddy dealer.. trust me on how nice this would look

Do as Steve said...you know how well his color combos 'work'!!

BTW, HUGE congrats, it will be worth the extra few weeks it took to get started!! Going blue? I wasn't quite ready for that....although didn't you rattle can it blue before to show the kids what it would look like?

Picking the color is a PITA! I have been set on a certain color for months now...and just today I was thinking of possibly going back to Electron blue. The color can 'make' the car in terms of the statement it's trying to make, take The Mule, Penny, and Fuel, all VERY nice cars but all have a different feel and it starts with the color choice.

Viper blue is a good choice and it wont date the build...I'll send you a pic I took at a local show, just a little something to look at during the long weeks to come!!

FWIW, I like the solid painted cars, but if you want to do a stripe, I agree the SS stripe is the one!!

Actually I do have a rattle can of Viper Blue. I painted the underside of my decklid and clear coated it. Then I rubbed it out and set it out in the sunlight. It was all the convincing I needed that this was a beautiful color. I am now leaning towards not doing the stripe. Although I did paint a 4x4 inch peice of sheetmetal with the Viper Blue last night and will do what Steve said and head up to a Cadillac dealer this weekend.

I vote no on the SS stripe. Either no stripes, or maybe a light silver hockey stick stripe or something. JMHO.

The car that Tony photoshopped is our 67, the color is actually Corvette Admiral blue which looks different depending on the light. The color gets lots of comments.

Hard to beat that Viper blue. It is going to be a real head-turner, I can't wait to see it done!!
I am hoping my dad will use the same or similar color for my blue '79 Trans Am that he is restoring, it will have the blue interior and decal package, I think that would look SWEET!!

I also think he should extend the body paint into the engine compartment, I really like that look.

Yep...I should have mentionied that. It was the closest color to Viper Blue I could find on a '67-'68 on this website. I should probably point out the stripe that is on that car is not a hockey stick stripe. It's just called an SS Stripe. I probably won't do it.
