Well, today we had some problems with putting in clutch and tranny. Im not sure if anyone has had the problem but the mcleod bellhousing needed to be modidifed to fit the world blcok. the cam housing on the bac sticks out past the face where the bellhousing plate site so i needed to cut out a large whole. it wasnt to bad here are some pics. i tossed in the 427 at the end too.

Well today i thought i would have time(after my enlistment in the navy) to put the motor in but i only got the trans on. I had a problem sliding the trans in because the clutch plate was not perfectly aligned. I called Jeff from classicchevy5speed and he said the best and safest way to fix it was to take apart the bellhousing again. Me and my dad said no way and asked him if we could get the clutch palte depressed would it slide in. He said yea so we took out an angled wrench and pulled real hard on the clutch arm and it slide right in! everything is connected and it goes in tomorow(if it doesnt rain!)

Well heres the install. Everything went great. Only had a little trouble with the driver side motor mount but it took ten minutes to fix. I have to get those valve covers off though! i think they look horrible. What your opinion and if you feel the same way as me whats your suggestion. More pics will be coming.

today i ordered the hooker super comp headers 1 3/4 coated because my old ones didnt clear the angled plugs. I also ordered a vacuum pump and a resvoir for my brakes a couple days ago. I plugged the pump to a battery and what a wonderful sound it made. summit will have their pump and resvoir back in a couple and i will have my hydraboost system in 7. ahhhh the joy of working on cars

Well guys...shes on the road. updates haev been rare because the car has taken all the energy. i have some pics and took a video of the first pulling out but i hav eto figure out how to post it. she sounds amazing and runs great. we had some problems with timing and the clutch but they are fixed. the hydraboost is unexplainable....my chest hits the steering wheel. no more traction bars! the exhaust hits a little still on the rear body panel but thats easy to fix. i will be changing that to 3 inch soon. little things like speedometer and backup lights just have to be tied up but other than that its done. 500 miles for the tranny break in but it should go fast. overall it was a great first build for me. what an experience. at times i thought i couldnt take it anymore, but now it all pays off. taking off from school tomorow to detail!

The project looks great, congrats on getting it done. I read your whole post through, I would put on some nice fabbed alum. valve covers would make it look better.

yea it definately would.....10000 times better. lots of cash for a young kid though. im having a problem with the started motor engaging but a couple of shims sould fix that problem. one very odd thing is that the fuel pressure gauge is all over the place. i dont know if its the gauge or the pressure really is fluxuating. i cant get the idle to settle down so that leads me to believe that the pressure may be fluxuating. a couple more thigns to tie together and then getting it aligned. time to take it to some shows. thanks guys
