      Driveshaft Balancing

I need to shorten my driveshaft by 1/2 to 3/4 inch. The machinist that I know says that it wont need to be rebalanced if only that little bit is removed and its welded back the same way it was removed minus the material. He is not the one doing the work so he is not saying it just to make money.

      Will I be ok?????
