Frame Specs ?

These scans are from books my dad got when a local body-shop closed that had been in business for many years... I don't know if you can find them anywhere anymore.

Maybe you could search ebay for "Tru-Way" frame books to find old copies. Each scan was out of a different year's book, so you would need to buy a book for each different year you wanted to compare.

I can scan any american car from '66, 69, or 72 if you need... I'd have to look to see what other years I have access to.

So each book is dated by year and contains all the frames??? I will do the search now.

If you could get scans of Mustang, Cougar, Camaro and Firebird that would be a great start, for each of those years.

In general, what are the most popular GM vehicles people tend to upgrade their suspensions on?

Was the Chevelle the same as the Camaro or was that a full frame.

Mike - all of the GM RWD intermediates are body on frame construction. For MY 1978 this chassis was downsized slightly (shorter wheelbase, about 500# lighter total car weights).

When I was doing my frame I saw different prints and manual dimensions that just weren't enough. I went to a collision shop that did electronic computer scanning for alignment of everything on the car. They gave me a print out that gave every factory locating hole,suspension mounting points and other nut and bolt reference points. It still took a bit of algebra to change the wheel base dimensions from the print but it made it so easy to make sure that the suspension mounting points were at the right height and in the right plane. I actuallly had to use the dimensions that you see below and also get the dimensions for the 85 Corvette that I installed the suspension from. It didn't even cost me to get them,they just said to bring the car in when done so they could see it.

The 56 5/8 line that goes from the aft DS side of the front sub to the fwd PS side of the rear sub. Are you to measure to the hole in the frame that those curved lines bisect, or does that curved line represent some theoretical point in space?

Measure from edge of hole to edge of hole.

BTW, that's a bottom-view, so that's pass side front and drivers side rear.
