Frame Specs ?

Does anyone out there have the dementions for the frame to body mounting holes(side to side and back to front),for the first and second gen camaros

Try to Google for this information. I was able to get a layout with all the measurements for my a-body, complete front to rear. I don't remember where I found it, only that it came out of a body builders manual from Chevrolet, however, it was found on a website out there somewhere. Good luck.

Any bodyshop that does frame work should have repair manuals with this info in them. Ask if you can get some copies or if they have any old manuals they could part with...

I have a subframe sitting in my garage right now. I will try and remember to measure it. If I remember right, the rear mounts are 34 or 34-1/2" apart center-to-center.

Yeah I had seen that on possis page but if you realy look at it those are the specs for the alighnment holes not the mounting holes but thanx for trying.the alighnment holes are good to know also but usauly used when reinstaling a frame or straighting one

Check over at nastyZ28.com I understand the frames changed in 75 due to the cat converter. (I don;t know what year you have)

Yeah, that image is great, and I can see what looks to be a Chevelle on the next page. I'd love to get my hands on that book, and it'd really help to get some pre-installed body mounts squared away!

Here's a couple I scanned a while ago:

'68-72 Chevelle frame

I haven't scanned the Camaro pages yet, but I do have them both at home sitting by the computer waiting for me to take the time to scan.

I have '66, '69, and '72 at home, and have access to a bunch of them into the 80s & 90s. They list all the american-built passenger-cars for the year the book was produced.

I can scan other makes, models, & years, but I don't want to spend too much time doing it, now that my chevelle project deadline is approaching rapidly.

Thanks Derek, but I already have those. The one above was nice because it showed dimesions from a vertical datum.

Ok, our first post after a few months of lurking...

Are these scans from different books, and do you have the titles of the books. I assume they are bodyshop manuals of some sort. Are these types of things available readily or is this something you find on ebay or the swap meet???

We are working on a rear suspension for the vintage cars( Mustang/Cougar Firebird/Camaro) and need to know how similar the various years and models are. We are more or less Mustang people, so we need some input on the GM vehicles.

For instance, we know on the 65-73 mustangs the crosscar dimension of the rear frame rails is the same, as is the case for the Cougars of that vintage. When it comes to the GM vehicles we do not have the slightest idea (well we have a slight idea) of what models/years are the same.

Can anyone tell me where I can get these books or give us a generalization on the Model/Year similarities?
