sounds pretty wide to me...most people go 17x8 and 17x10

i wouldn't take my advice to the bank just yet though, as I haven't mounted a set of wheels on a second gen personally, just heard through the grape vine.

The concesus ont the second gen message board is that a 17x8 with 5" BS is about the limit in the front and a 17x9.5 with 5.5" BS is about max without major mods and rubbing issues. The Hotchkis Camaro had numerous fitment issues that no one ever heard about in magazine coverage. A 17x11 will go in the rear with 5.75" BS and pounding the seatbelt hump in the rear wheel well and rolling the lip in the rear.

As Shane said, with some work you can get the 17x11s and 315s on the rear of the car. My Uncle is running 17x11 TTIIs with 315 BFG Drags on the rear of his '72 Camaro. I've also heard of a few people stuffing 17x9.5s up front with 275s, I believe Vince (mrquick) had this combo on his old '71, maybe he'll chime in here.

I run 17 x 9 on the front with 5 3/4 BS with a 275/40/17 tire. I only get rubbing on the inner fender on the right and the sway bar in the left. This only occurrs at full lock turns during parking. It is something that has not caused me any problems other than rubbed off paint. I can live with it but others may not be able to.

I also try not to park next to any one in parking lots, so a tight turning radius is not that important.
