      68 Mustang with 18" FR500 wheels

      This was originally another thread "what 18's for my Mustang" but I decided to start a new one now that I have the black FR500's. Looking for opionions and comments. Should I stick with the Cobra R's or go with the black FR500's?



      If I decide to keep the black wheels I will run a 245/40-18 tire on the front and a 295/35-18 tire on the back with a 18x10 deep dish version of the wheel in the pic.

      I like the black wheels!

      I like the black wheels if you're going to keep the car a dark color! Looks good either way, but the black wheels look like they mean business.

      295's fit!

      I just gave my 295/35-18 tires a test fit and they fit great This is the absolute biggest tire that will fit under this car with the only mod being rolled lips. Now I can go ahead and buy the 18x10 +22 offset wheels for the back. The cool thing about this wheel is that it will fit without the spacers required with my Cobra R's

      I'm interested to see how much clearance they have when the suspension is compressed - they look really close, but MEAN!!!

      You definately need to figure out a way to fit a large front on there now!

      They do look close...but the proximity to the q-panel is basically the same as I had with the 275/40-17 tire. If I place the tire about 1/4" from the leaf springs it looks too far in from the opening. So in the pics there is 1/2" clearance to the leaf springs. With the 18x10 +22 wheels and no spacer the outside edge of the wheel will be inset .17" further than the 17x9 +24 wheels were when using a 3/4" spacer.
