      LS3 Computer or electrical problem?

I had a builder install a painless wiring package and blueprint LS3 into my 68 Camaro. The cars starts for a while and then it won't start at all and my odometer will display different functions, Qtr. mile, trip A and B, etc. You can hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key., but the starter doesn't engage. I have tried to take it back to the builder and nothing changes. I have taken it to another shop that has experience with LS's and they said that it was programmed incorrectly, but I am having the same issue. It maybe the wiring as I disconnected the battery to have it tested and when I brought it back and installed it, the car started up with the correct odometer reading. Any suggestions?

There is likely two separate issues here, maybe more.

If the Dakota Digital gets interrupted during the boot up sequence it can and will do weird things. This can happen when the ignition wire for the gauges is connected to a wire that doesn't stay hot during crank or drops 12v between run and crank.

Jiggle the shifter when the starter doesn't engage. You didn't say what kind of transmission but neutral switch could be the problem there. Ignition switch and related wiring to the starter another possible cause. Bad starter, loose cables, there is a lot that could cause the symptoms you are describing.

Thank you Donny, I was afraid of that. There isn't a neutral safety switch and normally, I just start it with the 5 speed in neutral. I have a multi meter that I'll test the starter and see if I can eliminate some of easy items.

A jacked up ignition switch might cause both problems.
