      Gen IV tuner?

What's the general consensus for gen IV tuners?

I'm about to pick up an L92 and I'm going to need the basics; VATS delete, rear O2 delete, etc.

I like to do things myself, but I don't have a lot of time, so if there's a recommended tuner to use, I'll just do that.

I've heard good things about Speartech.

Also, the donor engine comes with the stock ECU, is that usable or do I need an aftermarket one?

      Thanks!
      Matt

Matt at GP Tuning is real good. He's popular with the CTSV crowd and has an excellent reputation. He's around San Fran I think

So I just got the engine yesterday.

Already has the complete harness and ECU.

Is there anyone that can just delete vats and whatever else is necessary to get it running and driving?

Seems a little ridiculous that even though I have the complete harness and ECU, basically any tuner I can find wants to sell me a new harness and ECU for like $1500+.

If that's the only option, I'll just buy HP tuners and try to do it myself.

There are mail order tuners. I think there’s a guy called 150 tunes. Never used him so can’t vouch but might be worth a call.

I agree with the harness being replaced for a dedicated stand alone operation. I can refer you to the company that builds my harnesess, they are top notch, and will build to your specs/options. If you have the time & expertise, you could re-work the harness that came with it to make it a stand alone setup. On the ecm, The trans type will need to match the one you are using. Probably is an automatic file if it's an L92. If you're running a manual trans, or non computer controlled auto, you will want a manual file. It will run & drive with an auto file, but there will be issues that are tough to work around. Just not worth the hassle.

Check out SwapTime on You Tube ,I sent my harness and PCM and Tcm for programming and wire harness rework and just got it back and so far seems impressive for about 1000.00

I'd normally thin it out and clean it up myself, but I'm about to start a new job in a few weeks so I won't have much time for wrenching anymore.

I'll check out the guys you've all recommended.

      Thanks!

For $1500 I'd be looking at getting a Holley Terminator X Max system and learning how to do your own tuning. I've installed a couple of these and they work very well.
