      Looking for a builder

I am looking for a builder for my 69 camaro. It's a great car but I want to take to full pro-touring (ls6) form. I live in Texas so someone relativly close is preferable. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I live in houston and know of a few people (places) that can do it. The thing is that alot of people have the skill they just dont know what you want so if you know everything then finding someone to do the work is pretty easy.

If your willing to go a little ways, Jeff Schwartz and the crew at Schwartz Performance will do an outstanding job. They are located in the Chicsgo suburbs.

The best in Texas is Roy Pigford. He had the 66Chevy II that was on the

front cover of numerous magazines including Popular Hotrodding. It also

won Street Machine of the Year. I dont know how to post pics... but

here's the link Go to www.images.google.com and type in roy pigford I

couldnt get it to work here sorry.

He's out of Pasadena TX. Best in Texas yes. Price dunno?

Pigford is good but I dont think that I wont have him do this. Unless you want a car that you spent so much money on you will be scared to drive. Unless you have tons of $$ to spend, but still i would not have him do "this" job.

      Thanks for the info

I greatly appreciate everyones info. I've got a very clean (straight body/nice paint) car. I'm looking for someone to install an LS6/T56, Vintage Air system, big brakes, and do some suspension work. I do not want a trailer queen. I'm looking to build a a car that looks stock (except for wheels) but drives like a new car. I'd do the job myself but I don't have the time or the required talent.

If you are in the Dallas area consider Minnettes (Mike Minnette) for all of the metal work...he is an awesome fabricator, welder and car builder. Not sure who in Dallas to recommend for paint...

      Texas is a big state....

      Where are you located?

If you're around the DFW area, I know of a small, up & coming shop that is currently doing an updated pro-touring treatment on a 68 Camaro that already had an early 80's musclecar restoration. It's getting the full DSE front suspension, rear 4-bar set-up w/9" & mini-tubs, a crate 430hp sbc plus a 700r4 from local manufacturer Phoenix transmissions & Vintage Air a/c.

      • They don't design chassis' from scratch but do chassis fabrication (including full frames) using various manufacturers parts (Art Morrison, DSE, Scott's).

      • They do complete metal, bodywork, & paint & have one of the industries best graphic artists/stripers holed-up in a building (this artist is a mentor of the guy that did Roy Pigfords graphics).

      • They're talented enough that they built last years 'Early Truck of the Year' winner for GoodGuys which isn't easy to win & they've had several cars in recent Rod & Custom magazine articles.

But, like I said it's a small shop w/only 3 people so I couldn't say how much their current wait is (or if there is one). PM if you're interested for more info. The last pic is the truck that won GoodGuys.

MTI won't touch a conversion project. Their bread and butter is doing heads/cam/engine swaps on late model f-bodies, GTOs, Corvettes. Conversion projects take too much time for them.

That Stude pick-up w/the LS1 conversion is cool. I remember it from GoodGuys & PowerTour. They have a cool site too.

My friends place has done 2 LS1 conversions but 'lnjstreetrods' seems to be better versed in late model drivetrain swaps & might be able to get it done faster.

if i had a place to do it, i would do it for you. i plan on starting a hot rod/musclecar shop in the next few years, but unfortunately that won't help either of us right now.
