Struggling with Mini Tub or Not to Mini Tub

This will not be a hardcare racer even though it will be setup like one!
I have 67 camaro speedtech subframe with 275's
For the rear im in the process of deciding which setup: Speedtech TA or ridetech 4 Link.
I will be building a 9in floater regardless so if i dont mini tub that wil determine a lot.

I have a hard time cutting up a perfectly good car just for 2in wider tires!

Has anyone else struggled with this dilemma?

Run the 275 tire and be happy.

Yep. I am right now, but I am leaning toward mini tubbing it. I have had mine restored for about 10 years and it is time to change things up a bit, plus there is nothing original on my Camaro and it's not an SS or RS/SS.

      Nice build thread!
Mine is just a stock rs but it hasn't been cut on yet. I was hoping that a 275 would tuck inside the fender. If it will I'll prolly leave it alone.

275 will fit in the rear. Plenty people had done it.

I can tell you I regret not doing it early on in the build. At this point it would be too costly to back up and do now. I can stuff a 275 into my rear wheel well, but a 300plus would really have changed the look and attitude of the entire car.

      Regret sucks.

Done right, it will look factory. I wouldn't stress that.

Im going to do it! I know i will regret not doing its just alot of work.
Plus i would be doing a disservice to my car that has a full speedtech subframe package up front.
275's up front and 315's in back will be pretty good. Then in future when i buy new wheels i will go a little bigger.
I can fit a 315 tire on my 10.5 rim.
Does the DSE kit come with the close out panels?

On my 2nd gen, I did it and wish I wouldn't have. Not regarding cutting the car up, but the money spent. When it came time to get tires and rims, I couldn't find anything in the right profile that would take advantage of all of the space in the back with the mini-tubs and an 'as-tall or close to it' size for up front. If I wanted to go to a very low profile tire up-front and at the rear, the mini-tub would be the way to go. Since my car is 99% city driven, that would have been to low. IMO, find out what tires and rims you want to run. Stuff them under the car and see what you need to make them work. I was surprised at the limited availability of some sizes of tires. I scrape from time to time now. I can't imagine going any lower and not cringing every time i come to a bump or dip in the road.

I here ya! but i dont have a rearend yet. so i wont have to try to find a wheel to fit, i will make the rear diff to fit my wheels.
nitto 315's are around 350 a tire thats pretty steep.

My 275 tire is 11in wide, and thats how wide of space i have in the wheel well.
So i will have to roll the lip to get the wheel to tuck in there.

I do know what you mean the bigger you go the more you pay.

i just mini-tubbed my nova and i couldnt be happier. granted the nova platform is notorious for having small wheel-wells. 275 up front 315 out back - changed the whole look of the car. its great

I don't see how? Tons of people have 335s and even 345s on 18" and 19" wheels. Other then the cost, it dramatically improves the cool factor of the car

It wasn't the width I was having an issue with. I wanted a slightly taller tire in an 18 than what I could find available. At the time I did this, I couldn't find a taller tire that would take up all of the available width I now had that also had reasonably close height for the front. I'm by no means trying to talk anyone into or out if doing it. I wouldn't do it again. I could care less about cutting my car up. It was just unecessary for what I ended up with.

TCI Pro-Touring II IFS and TCI Torque arm in the rear. ridetech and Wilwood on all four corners.

So the 67 tends to rot at the rear sock towers ... if they are rotted on yours then a mini tub is a no brainer
