      Fan Temp Sensor Leaking

So i finally got around to installing my griffin radiator. Everything went well until the fan temp sensor install. I am using Spal fans and relays. The sensor used is grounded thrpugh the connection so you cannot use any sealant. Well since my radiator had a threaded port at the top i decided to use this location. However it required 2 adapters. This meant i have three threaded connections. Well after install 2 of the 3 connections are leaking. So i am trying to determine an alternate location. I have considered using a tapped water neck on the intake manifold, using the current temp sensor location on the intake manifold, or using the spare connection on the water pump.

Do you guys have any suggestions? Any idea where i can find a tapped intake manifold water neck? I haven't had much luck so far. Please excuse my crude mounting brackets, they will be replaced with a better piece when i can locate a sheet of aluminum.

Also, the engine is a BBC. Yes, i know, it's blasphemy, the antichrist, etc. It won't stay forever.

      Thanks for any assistance.

If the adapters are NPT, they need sealant on the threads. I'd wrap them in a single layer of Teflon tape. I bet it won't leak and still give you continuity. It would be easy to check with an Ohm meter. I used to run a BBC in my GTO too...lol

You should have a npt plug in the engine block just below spark plugs.

      Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I went with your advice Andrew. All apears well and took it out for a test run. Only odd thing is that the fans are kicking on at a way higher temp than they should be. Sensor is for 185 but fans aren't kicking on until like 230. Do you think there would be that much difference in temp between rad and intake manifold or maybe the gauge is just wrong? It's an autometer i got a while back. Another possibility is that the adapter fitting is keeping the probe from being exposed to the coolant properly?

I just noticed the tap below the water neck. I imagine i could use that location as well.

Yes, put it in the intake. Where you have it now in the radiator is actually the cold side of the radiator, that is why you are seeing high engine temps before the fans come on.
