LH6 dod and afm lifter issues

I know this is slightly off topic but I have a 2008 GMC Sierra with the LH6 all aluminum motor. Had low oil pressure, I just replaced the pump yesterday, along with the filter and sending unit. Now has 60psi but still noisey. Going to pull the valve covers tomorrow and have a feeling I'll find some collapsed lifters. I'd rather not replace the cam if it's not damaged, and have to delete the DOD system. I just want the truck to work and not be noisey. Any tips, tricks, or things I should look for? I didn't realize you had to pull the heads to replace the lifters. Im still used to the old sbc hahaha.

There was a long discussion about this on LS1tech and as I recall, the consensus was to remove the dod system. So you'll need minimum of 8 new lifters (I'd replace them all) and a non dod cam.

It's much more involved than that. You would also need an LS2 valley cover, different timing chain set, and reprogram the pcm. Way to much work for a daily driven truck. I just want it to run quietly for a couple of years, not rebuild the whole thing. LOL

You don't need to do any of that to delete DOD...you're thinking VVT....you do need to disable the DOD in the tune, but no need to swap the front cover...

Hmm, that's not what I've read on the net. Valley cover swapped for non DOD LS2 style so it plugs the oil holes, timing chain swap because you go from single bolt to three bolt. That's what I read at least.

I did a DOD delete to the L76 LS2 I used in my swap and had to do most of what Streetbu is saying but I had to change my oil pan so maybe that had something to do with it? I just bought a kit from Texas Speed.

My LS2 only had 18K miles on it and I still have all the stock parts including the cam so if these parts will work for you I don't need them.

So you have the 8 special lifters too? If so I'd love them! That should be all I would need, I'm just trying to get this engine running and quiet again.

I should have everything including the lifters. I'll dig out that box tonight and post a pic of what I have.

This is what I have. This website is picky about uploading pics so I had to use that spam infested tinypics.
