New guy here with a Cougar

I've been lurking on the forums here just reading for a while so I figured I may as well get registered. I've always been a short course off road guy. I raced regionally myself for a few years and also worked (and still help out occasionally) for a TORC Pro-4 team. Last year I graduated school and moved to Nebraska for work and there just isn't any sort of off road racing around here... so the race truck is for sale and I bought a '67 Cougar. I've always loved this body style cougar and when I found one for sale just a few blocks up the road I just had to buy it lol. I bought it partially stripped down with no motor or tranny, which is great because I have no plans for a stock motor haha. The car will mainly be a street car and a good weather daily driver, with the occasional autocross here and there. The plans right now are: Coyote, T56, 9", full frame, 3 link rear, SLA front, 275's/315's, 4 or 6 point cage, and since it'll be a driver I want A/C, P/S, P/B, etc...

None of this is set in stone, and very well could change. Funds will determine if the Coyote/T56 happens or not. (especially since I have a pretty healthy, fresh 408W sitting in the garage already... anybody want to buy it lol) I'm still in the planning stages and have just been working on stripping the car, patching a few rust areas, and playing around with different frame/suspension layouts in Solidworks. I'll be doing all the work myself, and I have no problem cutting up a perfectly good car (sorry ahead of time to any purists lol). Right now I'm playing with the idea of moving the firewall back about 6 inches the get the motor and driver where I want them... but that puts the back of the motor underneath the cowl, and I'd like to keep the option of a supercharger open for the future. Once I get a more solid plan for the car, and start doing some major surgery, I'll start a build thread. but for now, here are a few pics of the car.

And here's the truck I'm trying to sell.

Love these Cougars too. I think they are overlooked which is a good thing price wise but they do seem to be creeping up. Lots of options available given its really a mustang platform so I will follow this with interest. The guys at cortex racing were building an awesome cougar. Will find a link somewhere and post.

This car was another inspiration for my build. It was at the Goodguys event here in Lincoln last year and I'm really hoping he brings it back this year because I never got a chance to talk to the owner. It has a twin turboed 32 valve under the hood.

I've learned just recently that KC has an off road racing group getting started, have you heard of it? I fell in love with one of their little Kart-truck things at an expo last fall.

I like Cougars too, looks like you have a good one. Be sure to follow the SCCA when they have an event out at Lincoln Air Park, that a great facility for autocross racing.

I was hoping get to one of the KCCORRA races last summer but never made it, hopefully this summer I will have more time now that we are settled in a little bit. And yeah the air park is pretty awesome, I stopped by for a little bit last year during the SCCA event last summer. lots of cars to drool over there!
