      C7 LT1 Engine 69 Camaro

Please use this thread to update any info for the new LT1 engine.

Has anyone done a LT1 yet? I scored one out of a project build. I figured I would ask here and share what i’ve learned so far.

The engine mount bosses are different from the LS series engines. We are going to make our own mounts for my Art Morrison chassis and push the engine back into the firewall as much as possible. I don’t know the actual measurements from where they are as compared to an LS block but will update in the future.

No engine mounted Power steering as the C7 uses an electric assisted rack. I found a company S&P out of Arkansas that has a full kit for $800. I’ve also looked into an electric pump. The older toyota MR2 unit is a “dumb” pump without all the speed sensor electronics to overcome. However there doesn’t seem to be any real info on if it will actually work. The S&P looks to be the better route for now.

Exhaust/headers. The exhaust ports are not the same as the LS series engines. S&P makes headers too. Looks like will be buying flanges and designing our own set.

Bell housing/Engine block bosses are different than the LS series engines. GM offers a LT1 to T56 bell housing that I will be buying.

The fuel system is unknown at this time. The engine has a cam driven fuel pump to boost the fuel pressure up to 2200 psi for the direct injection. I’m not sure yet what we’re going to do for an in tank pump. I have an older Ricks stainless we’re probably going to mod to make work with a stock style pump.

Engine mods. I’ve read quite a few threads on the Vette forums and some on LS1 tech. It appears 550-600 RWHP is a reasonable HP number with ported heads/Cam and removing the DOD system. Katech and a couple of shops in Texas look to be the front runners in these builds. So far I haven’t seen any crate builds. All of them have been cars modded and run on a chassis dyno. I’d like to hear more from anyone here who can offer some info?????

Anymore info out there? Thanks in advance!

Here’s a pic of the car.
