Built LS3 - use Warren PCM & cable throttle or DBW setup??

I posed this question over on Lat-G as well, but I really need to get some help in deciding what to do so I figured I'd start a thread here as well to get as much input as possible!

Okay, I need some help if figuring out the best way to go on a Turnkey motor I'm ordering. It will be a forged LS3 motor and it will come with a custom harness and option for either a DBW setup or the other option is a cable operated setup using a "Gen IV 24x Custom Warren PCM". Can someone help explain the pro's & con's between these setups?

This is going into a 69 Firebird and the builder said he can do either option. They have found the cable operated setup to be much easier to install for the customer with fewer issues, as some setups (depending upon the transmission being used) had compatibility issues that could pop up and take time to sort out. I don't know enough about this to even know what questions to ask in order to make a decision, so I was hoping to get some input? As I mentioned, either setup would come with a custom harness and the correct PCM. The engine will be dyno tuned and broke in before shipment.

I currently have a new Baer Tracker full floater rear end with 3.89 gearing and I'm planning on going with a T56 Magnum (close ratio I think is the best option for me).

Any input would be appreciated as I need to get back to them to go over everything so they can get the harness started. Are there other questions, options, etc. I should be thinking about in this process as well?

      thanks, Jake

      Jake,

I have no idea what a Warren PCM is. My preference is towards DBW because I have found it to be easier to install and the throttle response is good or better than cable. If this engine has a bigger cam or whatever, why not go with a GMPP harness for the LS3 and get it tuned? Seems pretty straight forward. Or use a Holley HP system that is fully programable for either the 24 or 58 tooth crank and use a cable throttle body (only the Dominator has DBW support).
