      I have a 67 Chevelle small block

      Recomendations- Brand or companys

Looking to lower? Spindle or Spring

Would like to put on the widest wheel and tire. Size? Backspacing?

Converting front brakes to disc. Do I have to replace A arm

Hi, welcome to the site. Post up in the "welcome to our board" section, introduce yourself and show us your car!

There's a lot of wiggle-room in your questions - you'll need to start by narrowing down what you're wanting to do with your car.

Lowering: Spring better than spindle. Drop spindles do funky things to geometry (a search will get good info, sorry, searches don't post well - they expire)

Front brakes converting to disk: You'll need to decide how big you want to go.

      - Easiest route would be to swap in an A-body disk brake setup from 68-72 or so.. If you did that, you wouldn't need to swap a-arms.

      - Spiffiest route would be to go with the ATS fabricated spindle or the SC&C taller ball joint setup. You may or may not need to replace the a-arm with those.

      - In the middle are the prefab kits from Baer, Wilwood, SSBC, etc. Benefits of those would be that they've got everything already included, but you'll have to pay for that convenience.

As for widest wheel: We've got a database of the wheel sizes folks are running on the site - it can be found at https://www.pro-touring.com/tech/whe...eel_Survey.htm - nobody seems to have a 67 Chevelle, but one user has a 67 Buick GS400 and they're running 17x9 on the front, they didn't seem to know the offset. I don't know if the 67 has the smaller wheelwells like the 65s or the larger like the later A-bodies; if it's the larger than the 17x9.5 w/ 5" backspace I've got on my 69 Elky are just fine (but lowering the car or changing other bits of the front suspension may alter clearances for you).

A 67 Chevelle can handle up to a 17x9.5 front w/5.75" backspace and up to a 275/40 tire. On the rear, you can run up to a 17x10 with 5.5" to 6" backspace and up to a 285/40 tire.

i have a 67 and i am running 17x8 front and 17x9.5 back. i think this winter i am going to put qa1 coilovers on the front of mine and air bags on the back. at least that is the plan for now, it changes daily.if anyone can comment on this i am open some feedback.

Same here on my 67chevelle 17x8 front with 4" backspace and a 17x9.5 on the back with a 5.5" backspace. I could have done a bit more backspace and wider rim but getting tires is problematic.
