      Goodmark Hoods

Has anyone had much experience with Goodmark hoods not fitting. I am trying to fit a hood and I dont think it is formed right. If I make the front center of the hood match the header panel the front corners are about 1/2" low. The side contour of the hood next to the fenders matches until about half way to the front then it starts down.

The only fix I can come up with is to drill the spot welds and seperate the skin from the under support at these corners an raise the hood in these areas.

I have two factory hoods, one flat standard, and one "SS" and they fit fine. Just the Goodmark Cowl hood.

      Just wondering

that is how mine fit when i bolted mine up. You might have to do some massage it a little to fit. Might have to put a board in each corner and push in the middle to flex it out. Is all your other sheet metal original? Does the other hoods fit? Let me know if you need any other info.

You just bend it into shape. They are only blanks.

Thats funny I've put on 1 g-body,1 f-body,and about a dozen 73-87 and 88-98 gm truck hoods .And they all fit like a glove. If there such junk as you put it then why can you get as crash replacement parts on insurance jobs?

i guess i've been getting lucky too. Although the 4 plane cars can be difficult. All sheet metal may need some adjustment, its not a break open the box and plop on perfect.

Any competent body man can straighted one out. Just don't watch...all that banging and 2X4 action might be too much for the faint at heart.I saw a guy almost pass out when his body guy used a 2X4 and a large pry par to align his door.

Ive put a half dozen or so on various vehicles and some fall right into place while a couple had to be coaxed to fit with the above mentioned 2x4/pry bar method. The 88-up full size truck hoods seem to fit the best from what Ive seen though.
GMC Syclone (currently wrecked thanks to the typical rubber headed VA driver not paying attention to his red stop light...oh and he didnt have insurance either)

I was at a show down in Delaware, and they were giving away a Goodmark cowl hood for a Monte Carlo. The guy who won it lived on Long Island and didn't have a way to transport it home, so we bolted it on right in the Kahunaville parking lot! I was very impressed with the fit. We had it installed and lined up in about 15 minutes.

I guess he got lucky if some of you had issues with them.

What did he do with his stock hood? Just wondering.

I have a GoodMark hood on my Nova. It fits fine.
