    Thread: Video, curious.

    1. Video, curious.

      Hey, I found this video.

      http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lYl-7IhH0jg

This is a 70 chevelle and a Skyline GTR35, 4WD car on the street.

Look at how the chevelle reacts etc to know (guess) how the car was set up.

      Now what am i asking?

That chevelle changed from its current set up to a pro-touring set up. Same power etc just suspension changed to be suited to pro-touring and 17 or 18" wheels, low profile instead of those thicker ones on 15s. Now do the same run against the GTR. Would it more or less still win or would have the pro-touring set up effected it so much so that the chevelle would be completely behind?

I am trying to gauge based on that how much a pro-touring setup would effect that sort of performance as this will give me a solid thing to decide how to do a car up for myself.

I didnt watch the video but I say the GTR would kill it in a straight line drag.

The Chevelle in the video was set-up purely for drag racing. You can tell it has bigs and littles and the front suspension is very loose. It also had slicks. If you were to change the chenille over to pro-touring, it would not have the same kind of launch ability as it did before. The GTR must have been stock...

    4. Right...

How much would a PT set-up set the chevelle behind though?

Im just trying to gauge how 'different' will it be. Is it even worth me looking into setting it more like a straight line car or is the difference not enough to sacrifice a nice tight feeling car that does corner...

25% behind given the same amount of tire. Its simple physics. The GTR didnt get a good launch. I have a video of this same car I need to get uploaded, but here is a proper launch on a non drag slick on a non prepped surface:
