      72 Firebird build

This project has been a slow ongoing project for a few years now. It started as my dad's first car that he got new for graduation. It has been parked since 1985, always being stored indoors. Other than the body work, we are doing everything ourselves between myself, my dad, mom, and brother. Sometimes it can be a little difficult in making progress since my brother and I live in Texas and the car is in Indiana. Car was originally a 350/th350 Cardinal red Firebird with White interior/ White vinyl top. Supposed to get the car back from paint this coming week.

Here is a pic of it back in the day, well before being disassembed.

      Plan for the car:
      Frame off body restoration
      Original Cardinal Red paint
      467 Pontiac with Edelbrock heads
      Fast fuel injection
      Built T56 w/ mechanical clutch
      Stock interior
      Classic Air conditioning
Coil-overs all around w/ rear trailing arms (undecided on kit)
      6 piston front/ 4 piston rear brakes
      12 bolt rear end
      17" or 18" wheels
      no mini-tubs

Started disassembling back in 2008 and it sat in that state for the next few years.

      Solid floors

Only "rust" on the car was just surface rust where the vinyl top used to be.

Headed to the body shop back in May of this year

      Blasted on the rotisserie.

The underside was redone in the oxide red finish. They no long make this, so they had to mix a paint and use a matte clear to get the proper finish.

After final paint, before any wet sanding. They did 3 coats of epoxy sealer primer, guide coat sanded 4 times, resealed with primer, 3 coats of color, 4 coats of clear, wet sanded to 3000 grit, then 5 more coats of clear.

Should have more final paint assembly pics next week when they pick up the car to take it back home.

That is going to be one Hell of a beauty.... That drive line with the T56 will put a Heck of a smirk on your face and the combo of a Red car with a white guts should look incredible....

Yeah you really don't see the white interior very often especially with the red exterior. The plan for the final paint will include a white Trans Am stripe like this 1 of 1 1972 Trans Am:

Yes it's a factory color, some of the older pictures posted are from 72-74 time period.

Yesterday was a big day for the car. ridetech 4 link Stage 2 single adjustable coilover kit with front muscle bar, wilwood 6 piston front 4 piston rear brakes, and a 12 bolt with trutrac was all ordered. Hopefully we'll be able to make some good progress on the car through winter.
