Hey Albert I'll take a guess: Take the clutch out of the equation first. A new, warrantied LS3 is 6200ish. Given that it's sitting and history could be suspect, I'd try and land it for 4000 - 4500 (start at 4K you never know). I know that may sound high, but that'd be about the market for it. Tell him he can keep the clutch ot maybe you'll give him a couple hundy for it if the final motor price is right.

Now the guy may have dollar signs in the clouds and someone may pay more, but that's the deal. The longer it sits on the market the less resistance you may get. These days everyone wants 6.2s, so you have that going for you. IF you get it, slap some LS3 heads and a nice cam and 500 fw poines are yours. GL Sir!

Ls2 I didn't find a price but ls6 with similar layout is about 6k brand new...

I would start thinking 60-70% of that unless you actually need it and then you might want to be more serious in your math to figure out what your alternatives would be..

Maybe I'm out of touch on this stuff but used with unknown history use to be half of retail. If you going to buy it at 60-70% of retail and have to replace some components you might as well just go buy new and forget the hassle. Buying used is suppose to be a savings with some risk and at those prices you are taking all the risk and will realize none of the savings.

is it just what is pictured (no harness, etc)?

Checking what contemporary corvettes in bristol pa (fparts) is asking, i'd want to pay less than what he charges wince he offers warranties and is a bit pricy anyway. So i see $4400 and up on his page
