      Engine choice help

Hey guys I have a 1971 Buick skylark with kind of a drab engine in it right now, the horsepowers there but not the look. I want something i can take to car shows an people will gasp. Now my budget is kind of tight right now. Im just replacing the valve covers and the air cleaner right now but I have a question? RED OR BLACK? I found two fantastic sets of valve covers that were red or black and air cleaners to compliment them. Black could go for a sleek look and red could be a good look too. What do you guys think for this engine?

What color is the car? Red is only an option if it complements the exterior color. That's why chrome is almost always cool...!

My opinion, for what it's worth:

Hold what ya got. Maybe just clean up the engine bay a bit. Don't spend a dime on bling, but save your dimes until you're ready to rebuild for performance. Even then, I'd try to preserve some of the original appearance under hood.

Silver black and red look great together. Work with that and be thankful you don't have a green car..
