      need help...

      so i converted my 350 to a 383, the 350 was a crate engine with a 2004r trans b& m flex plate.
my engine builder balanced the rotating assy as internal and asked for my flex plate so he could balance everything.

so now i have installed the RS700, it came with a flywheel for a 2 piece rear main and it stated internal balanced. my issue is is when i rev up to 3k i feel a vibration in the seat. i gave a friend a drive and he said i shouldn't drive it.

was i suppose to get a external balanced flywheel? the engine builder says if the flex plate had a weight attached to it then i should have.

the 350 was internal balance i assume....i know 400ci are external so i am very confused

Some 383's are externally balanced. The two piece rear main cranks can be internally balanced better than the one piece which normally need a weighted flexplate or flywheel.

Did you confirm whether or not there was a weight on the flexplate? This would help you to know for sure.

i know this is internally balanced, the thing is the flex plate was on my 350 that is the confusion here! and i did see a weight on the flex plate.

Did the machine shop add the weight?

Is this a one or two piece rear main seal crank?

its a one piece rear main....i did some research and this motor was a create engine that i got from GM well went to there site and it states internal/external balanced i bought this with a flex-plate and the flex plate has a weight welded on.

i feel this is Keisler mistake and now i am fighting with them

How is this a Keisler problem? Presumably they sold you what you ordered. Is it possible that your engine builder modified the flexplate when he balanced the rotating assy?

The one piece cranks are normally (including the 350's) use a neutral balance harmonic damper and an externally balanced flexplate or flywheel. I just learned this from my machine shop as I am building a new one piece crank motor.

I am not sure who is at fault here....my motor states that it is an internal/external 383 internal balanced with a external weighted flex plate. now that its a 5 speed it should have a external balanced fly wheel, well Keisler sent me a zero balanced flywheel. my engine builder balanced my 383 using my flexplate.

i told keisler that it was a automatic, if you go on to summit and search 350 or 383 complete engines and look at the specs they all come with a flexplate! and it says internal/external balance.

keisler states that you CAN NOT mix internal/external so that is what we are fighting about.
all i would like is for them to either sell me an external bal flywheel at there cost.
