i am sure with the right backspacing and lower contol arms you could fit a big tire up front. i only run a 245/40/18 but i run a kore3 hubs and c5 rotors and caliper so for me i would need a wheel with less back spacing but i got tons of room with my ridetech lower control arms and hotchkis upper arms.
love your buick also.. thier isnt many of us out thier

im not so sure the inner fender wells are wide enough to put such a big tire up front, the 255 may be the biggest,i also have a 245 up front and a 295 in the back

I ran a 275/40/17 V710 on my 67 El Camino on 17x9 wheels with 5" backspace. I did have to clearance the inner fender where it meets the fender and remove the center bolt there are well. They fit but weren't ideal. On the street I had 245/45/17s on 17x8 wheels, they fit quite well. The Elky was lowered quite a bit which didn't help.

I ran a 245 on a 19x8, and I think that was about max. Depends on how low it sits.

Cole Quinell runs a 265 on his 66 Chevelle. I believe it is on a 9.5" rim, 18" diameter.

I'm pretty sure Tom Farrington runs a 275 on the front of his.

We're running a 275/35-18 BFG Sport Comp-2 on our 66 Chevelle with DSE suspension (splined anti-roll bar) and have 18X9.5" wheels with 6" of back spacing. They barely rub a few spots and that is only under extreme use... A 9" would be best, but Vintage Wheel Works doesn't offer one so we can live with a little shiny metal.

In the rear we have a 295/35-18" BFG KDW on a 18X9.5" with 6" of back spacing. Normally it would be a 5.5" back space, but we're using a 68-72 rearend which is 1/2" wider on each side. The 295 is a snug fit also, but again only rubs ever so slightly under extreme use.

      Phil,
Our 66 is probably different than your 72, but we have slight rubbing on the strengthening bulge that is above the wheel lip and also on the inside rear of the wheel well. The frame is still a long way away in that area so that hasn't been an issue. All that will change soon since we are working on the ABC Performance mini-tub kit and will be able to run a 335 (if we desire).
