3rd gen nova 17in wheel specs that are on the road

Im looking at getting some 17in wheels from vintage wheel works for my 72 nova. I would like to see some specs on 17in wheels for a 3rd gen Nova with stock sub-frames and stock rear tubs with lowered suspension. My car will have C5 front brakes as I know with stock drums hubs it moves the wheel out a little but not much.

I would like to see specs that are on the road with no issues. I have done a lot of searches and really want to know what people are running in one forum

my current idea would really like a 8in wheel on the front but want a safe size

      17x7 4.5bs with 235/40r17
      17x9 5.75bs with 275/40r17

      Thanks

      Thanks
From all my research "Steve's Nova Site", looking at the same for my car too....
Up front: 8" wheel with 4.75" bs and up to a 245-45-17"
Out back: 9" wheel with 6" bs and a 275-40-17"

      Hope that helps.

I have also looked around and found that the 8in wheel with 4.75bs is a option. as for the 9'' with a 6in I have found most people run that bs with a 9.5'' rear wheel...

Maybe be someone that is running sizes like that will give some info about how it works on the road and if they have any issues.

looking at specs aren't going to get you far you need to measure you're own car as almost every nova i've seen measure's up differently

the wheels i was looking at for my 72 were:
      18x8.5 5.25" BS front or +12 offset 245/40/18
      18x9 5.5" BS rear or +12 offset 255/40/18

and the set i'm picking up today are
      front 17x8 with 5.5" BS 245/40/17
      rear 17x9.5 5.5" BS with a 255/40/17

and both sets would fit... picking up the second set cause i found a killer local deal on them

make sure you measure i used the homemade wood tool DIY on stevesnovasite to measure my car and it worked great to check everything and cost me nothing as i had a 2x4 laying around just make sure you use the right measurements for the wheels and tires you want to use and when you measure for the tires find out its section width not the contact patch width

my car will be lowered 2+inches on ridetech coilovers and rear 4link

here's the DIY hope its ok i post it here as its quite helpful

I have a set of Wheel vintiques 17in rallys on my nova.

      17x8 w 5.25bs front and rear. 245/45/17 KDW front & Rear.
255/45 is ideal for the rear, but they dont make them in a KDW.

Both front and rear are up in the wheelwells. I really like the look.

My car is really low and they do not rub at all in normal driving.

See my signature, or i can email you some pics.

Also......235/40/17 would look like a rubber band.
I started with 235/45/17 on the front of mine, but did not like the way it looked.
It looked too small. I have the 235/45/17 KDWs for sale if you go for the 7" wheels!!

I also did a million searches before i bit the bullet as well.

      Good luck,
      Randy

Dan I wish you still had them so I could test fit LOL

from what I have found the sizes that I will go with unless I find some more info that shows this will not work.

      17x8 with 5.0bs and a 245/40 ( front )
      17x9 with 5.75bs and a 275/40 ( rear )
