      Question on LS1 rear brakes

I would like to know if the rear brakes from a 4th gen V-6 car are the same as the ones with a V-8?

I have a chance to get the complete rear brake setup for $70 but its off a V-6 camaro but want to make sure they are the same

Identical. I am using "v6" brakes on my skylark in the rear.

Your car is a '72 right? If so it would have the staggered rear shocks. On my '72 the left shock is mounted rear of the axle and the caliper hose ran into the shock coming off of the caliper. Most everyone will tell you to run either 2 right or 2 left backing plates to get around this. I fixed this by flipping the hose on the caliper 180* and routing it around and underneath the caliper, then bending the hard line down under the caliper to meet with the soft line.

      Just so you know.

Got all 4 brakes, backing plates, MC and booster from a V-6 camaro for $50.....also got the extra left rear for free-----keep searching CL for someone parting out an old V6 camaro, if you catch them just before they are ready to haul it off, they will practally give you what you want. I now have an extra RR of someone needs one.

Under $100 for the rear (complete), isn't bad. I think I paid $130.

Does this swap change the width at all?

Same as any rear disc swap, the only change in track width will be due to the difference in hat thicknesses between what you're replacing, .10" for a drum, and what you're putting in its place, .24" for a 98-02 LS1 F-body rear rotor.
