      Borg Warner problems

Just picked up a 70 chevelle 454 with a bw s t10 tranny, problem is it rolls in any gear with engine off and when I put it in gear I have to rev it up to only move very slowly, was told the linkage needs adjusting. Is their anybody that could tell me how to fix this.

there is an adjustment rod from the bottom of the bellcrank to the clutch fork...if indeed the clutch is that far out of adjustment, the rod is too long putting constant pressure on the throughout and pressure plate....Loosen the jam nut and turn the pin clockwise to shorten the linkage...Clutch linkage in most cases needs to be adjusted longer as the clutch wears....If this is not a new install and the car worked before...I would guess it needs a new clutch...but hopefully just an adjustment...

No...ideally there is no pressure on the linkage when the pedal is up.... If the clutch is that far out of adjustment the pedal would put constant pressure on the linkage making it tough to turn...all said and done ther should be some play in the pedal...

Don't tell me let me guess, the PO told you the clutch just needed adjustment. Dude, you don't have a Borg-Warner problem, you need a new clutch! No matter how poorly adjusted the clutch linkage is your clutch is going to be shot. You can shorten the linkage all you want, it won't help now.

With the price I stole this car for I was surprised it even had a transmission. I did manage to adjust the bolt but ran out of threads, it drove and I was able to drive it to the end of the driveway and reverse back up the incline, still feels like it needs another inch or so cause I still have no play in the pedal, I then decided to take the bolt out and saw that it is an actual bolt with the head chopped off and grinded to a ball to fit in the clutch fork, so that has me wondering if they still make the correct adjusting bolt or is it something I'll have to fab up. I'm still working all the bugs out so if this works it will b one less thing, but if it turns out to b the clutch that will b fine too.

Your clutch is most likely toast. Have someone who knows what they're doing with clutch fork geometry replace it and set up yor z bar linkage. Otherwise yoou might just smoke your new clutch.

I assure you you can still get the proper bolt, any of the restoration place should have them...Another thing to look for when and if you pull it apart is the proper through-out bearing, it is possible that someone used the long bearing for the Borg & Beck style (three finger) pressure plate on a diaphram plate which would require the shorter bearing....just some thing to look for, because you'll probably be putting a clutch in it...

Well after spending hours on the Internet, phone and even a transmission shop, no luck, the shop wants me to bring the car in and they still do not know if it can be ordered(sounds like a bunch of bs to me). the closest thing I found was a whole linkage kit that comes with the pivot bolt. I'm open to suggestions to anyone that knows a place to purchase this separately, if not I will fab up something. Trial and error right

That is exactly what I need, thanks
I'm gonna order the correct part that I need, but in the meantime I threaded the current bolt that I have and adjusted this so I would have the free play I need but when I lift up on the pedal the bolt falls out from the clutch fork, I'm seriously scratching my head on this one

There should be a spring from the clutch fork to the opposite end of the adjustment rod to hold the rod tight in the fork

Well, turns out gut feeling was correct and I need a new clutch, is there any specific one I should use, also I was under the impression that I had a super t-10 cause of the aluminum bell housing now I hear t-10 also had it, what should I look for and will it make a difference when ordering new clutch
