      Head Porters

      Hi guys-

      Little history.

A friend and I are trying to develop the Ford 2.9l V6 found in Rangers and BroncoII's for use in SCCA GT2 (yeah, it's probably a lost cause). We're trying to find a head porter who is more than a BS artist, who may be interested in working with us. We sent a head and some development money to a guy who's the darling of Ford 2.3's,what a waste of a reputation. He's taken our seed money and our head, and isn't answering emails. He's had our stuff over 2 years, and we're no closer to our developmental program, or a ported race head then we were when we started.

      So my question-

Anyone here recommend a porter who's not full of sh*t? Someone who may be interested in something other than a SBC or SBF? I'm not some jerk who's never happy, but I do get PO'd when I get jerked around. We have a developmental head in a box ready to go, along with a check for someone who's serious. Even if you think he may not be interested, I'd like contact information or his shop- he may not be interested, but may know someone.

      Thanks guys

I don't have anything to contribute other than I hope you guys find what you're looking for. That is quite an odd platform to work with. I love the 3.9 in my Ranger!

Possible to share what is different about your heads? There may be a pretty good market for them in the offroad industry.

Katech does this, but not sure if they're doing this genre. Another smart guy is Richard @ WCCH...

      Ummm....

We ARE Capri guys.No coincidence that 69-74 MkI and 76-78 MKII body styles are also listed as approved bodys in GT2. Currently my compadre is running a 72 W/ a 2.8 in GT2. The heads are junk-they don't flow even when ported.

We aren't, on the other hand, based in the UK

Nothing particularly unique. We are basing our program on the now no longer produced World heads (the only aftermarket casting permitted, so we are always on the hunt for WP cores). Most of the off-road guys have moved on to the Ford 4.0. Why do we do this to ourselves? Non-current engines and aftermarket heads no longer produced?

Sorry, should have checked your profile before replying. I owned a Capri in the late 80s and have a soft spot for those cars. Good luck on your search.

I tried to reply to you PM your inbox is full.

Anyway, What class of SCCA are you going to run these heads with, I have done heads before for an SCCA car and there were STRICT rules about how much and how far I could port the heads. Are you trying to make the heads a super modified head requiring a custom intake or just a redesigned set of stock type heads? I have a few ideas I went over in school that may be usable for your application.

      Swept out some old messages.

      Classis GT2.

A quick review shows the limitations being the intake manufold cannot extend into the head, valve cemterlines cannot be altered, and non-metallic valves are forbidden.

Check with www.TPIS.com. Tell them I sent you. They've won plenty of SCCA races with many makes. Great guys and close enough to me that I can check on stuff for ya.

      Hi Greg,

I would be interested in discussing this project with you. A little background on me, I have the most time with SBC, SBF and V-6 Buick stuff but I have done everything from 4-vlave Mitsu heads to V-10 Viper and probably most things in between. PM me on here if you want to discuss options.

      Thanks,

      Chris

Sorry for tardy response, been traveling the last couple days, and after a few red-eye flights, I wanted to lay low and catch up on sleep.

I'll put together kind of a list of what we got and where we're going, & send it to the guys indicating interest, and also contact the commercial shops listed
